Republicans in Congress will file a civil lawsuit over President Barack Obama's invoking of executive privilege in connection with Operation Fast and Furious, House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said Sunday on CBS' "Face the Nation."
Executive privilege has already been ruled constitutional by the Supreme Court.
I just know that will create thousands of jobs! For lawyers.
These guys are despicable and desperate
"The only facts that we've received about this entire Fast and Furious operation came from whistleblowers and others associated with it," he added. "We got no information that helped in our investigation from the Justice Department at any point."
Yes, yes, all those thousands of pages of documents and hours of testimony.... nothing there at all. What you mean to say is, just like Ken Starr, you plan to keep flogging this horse and wasting our tax dollars till you find something, anything to make this administration look bad.
I wish they had to pay all the court costs personally for these failed witch hunts.
10:45 AM PT: Politico gets it wrong: "House Speaker John Boehner says Republicans will push a contempt case against Attorney General Eric Holder in federal court over his decision to withhold documents in the "Fast and Furious" gun trafficking investigation.
In an interview aired Sunday on CBS's "Face the Nation," the Ohio congressman said he expected fellow Republicans would file a lawsuit in federal court following the House's vote last week to hold Holder in contempt of Congress. That suit, he said, would likely come over "the next several weeks."
On the CBS video, Boehner says he is going after the "use of executive privilege".
