This reads to me like an account from life in the south under Jim Crow.
In the last 120 days the Bermea's family vehicles have been vandalized, with gay slurs scratched into them. Their property has been set on fire, and their home has been broken into -- again with slurs and profanity left behind. One of the children's rooms was vandalized, and they now are afraid to sleep there. Can you blame them? How would any child be able to sleep knowing that there are people outside your walls who want to do harm to you and your family? The trauma on the minds of these children is heartbreaking, as they will likely carry these moments terror with them for the rest of their lives. It is despicable, deplorable and truly tragic that these innocent children have learned at such an early age what it means to live in fear.
This all has taken place under the nose of the local police department who have yet to put a stop to those responsible for this now marathon session of bullying. This is a small Arizona town, where everyone knows everyone else's business. I personally finds it difficult to believe that nobody in the community knows anything. Logic defies such reasoning. There are more than those who are carrying out the harassment who are complicit in this.
There are names for the organized groups that harass racial and ethnic minorities. They are synonymous with failed cognitive connections in polite circles.
With the exception of the term Homophobe the organized groups making the attacks on LGBT's are not identified as to their proper source.
Why is that?
A happily committed gay couple with four children have been the victims of continuous harassment for over two months at their home in Gilbert, Arizona - which is a predominantly Mormon community.
Because they claim it to be their religious right to persecute those that are different. The Mormons are not the only group doing this. I know from personal experience they are vigilant about confining LGBT's to ostracized status in short order and what this family has experienced is how they do so.
What is so terribly wrong about pointing out there are some religions being used for ill?
