Dozens of Syrian soldiers including top officers, defected to neighbouring Turkey on Monday, the Anatolia news agency reported. The 85 soldiers who fled include one general and other senior officials, the agency said, citing local officials.
A report in the Guardian newspaper talks of a town that claims to see 20-30 Syrian soldiers of all ranks defecting each and every day.
Meanwhile inside Syria, the horrific military offensive of Bashar al Assad continues. Estimates that now 120 people die each day. With Damascus increasingly the scene of violence.
But still every day brings fresh evidence of the ferocious resistance put up by the rebels.
