We've all read the stories saying that Wall Streeter Mitt Romney is sucking away all the Wall Street donations that showered down on President Obama back in 2008.
Now, however, the Barclays scandel involving manipulation of interest rates by the big banks may change that dynamic suddenly.
According to the New York Post, "This May Send Wall Streeters To Prison", ( http://www.nypost.com/... ) (sorry about the ugly link)
the Barclays scandel could soon spread to other banks, where CEOs are dreading the worst. In the case of Barclays, the scandel cost the CEO his job mere days after it broke and criminal charges are finally possible.
Right now, Obama is favored to win re-election (about 2-1 odds in his favor per Nate Silver, the clear winner of the 2000-2008 elections). Sure, the banksters would like to withhold their funds and try to get rid of the President... but if he does win, he'll be ultimately in charge of, er, "govenment policy toward white collar corruption", meaning their prosecutions. And he won't need campaign donations then.
If they want to buy some Barack, they have to do it now, and do it fast, and in amounts large enough to undo the damage they've done so far with their determination to fund their Wall Street comrade and be rid of Obama.
Wouldn't it be curious if this scandal did have legs, and if the banksters suddenly began donating to Obama?
