My US chums across The Great Sanity Divide (aka the Atlantic) have no doubt heard the oft repeated mantra, made famous by that anorexic skinwaste Ann Coulter, that "ALL Muslims are terrorists because it was Muslims that carried out the attacks on 9/11" or variants thereof. Ann's own particular twisty swivel eyed version of that was "Not all Muslims are terrorists but all terrorists are Muslims".

The logical landmine is most often heard in relation to the building of the supposed extremist terrorism madrassah come gym at a few blocks away from Ground Zero. Rush Limbaugh is the latest of the repeaters, kicking the bigotry ball back into the Right Wing Echo Chamber Of Lies(tm) reported here at Media Matters

Well, I know that expecting any form of logic and common sense arguments from Rush...aka Jabber The as painful and pointless as deliberately sticking your hand into a running waste disposal unit. But hey.... in the spirit of reason and debate lets set up a stall and sell that argument in the marketplace of ideas.

OK.....if Jabber The Gut and his shabby two bit hater bigot fans want to use the "All Muslims are equally guilty for the acts of a small minority of the followers of Islam" logic then:

ALL US Christians are terrorists - anti-abortion extremists who carry out clinic bombings and  murderous attacks on clinic staff are ALL Christians. QED ALL US Christians are terrorists.

ALL US Christians are sex offenders. Child sexual abuse by predatory priests and pastors is carried out by Christians, and is further facilitated by the actions of other Christians who assist in cover ups. QED ALL US Christians are sex offenders.

ALL US Christians are racists. Christian Identity Ministries is the sect that is associated with white separatists and KKK groups. They maintain that they are Christians. They are openly racist. QED ALL Christians are racists.

and we can expand the logic to also take in:

ALL US Militia group members are terrorists. Tim McVeigh was a member of a militia group, He carried out a domestic terror attack on US soil, potentially with the help of other militia group members. QED ALL Militia groups are terrorists.

ALL US ethic Irish people must be classed as terrorists: the IRA were Irish, were terrorists, and carried out a 25 year campaign of international
terrorism. Some funding for the terrorism was associated with the US based NORAID organization. QED ALL Irish people in the USA are terrorists.

By the way....y know that Rep. Peter King bloke...the one who is running a McCarthyite anti-Muslim witch hunt .... King was involved with the running of NORAID. Also,a Northern Irish judge ejected King from his courtroom, describing King as "an obvious collaborator with the IRA". So terrorism is all fine and dandy with Pete as long as the terrorists are white and Catholic Irish apparently. Maybe he listens to Rush????

So....where does this leave us?

Perhaps next time you hear that GOPper cry that US Muslims shouldn't be able to build mosques and cultural centers because the guys who carried out 9/11 were Muslims, you can answer back that Christians shouldn't be able to build any more Churches because....

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
