Happy Friday folks. I hope everyone's enjoying the summer and staying safe and cool.
This is a 'thank you' note to all the generous and caring people who've reached into their hearts and their pockets to help keep a roof over my head and me and my pup together.
Tears are streaming down my face as I type this and as I contemplate where I would be today if it were not for your kindness and how grateful I am that so many people care about the well-being of a complete stranger.
For those of you who don't know my story, this is me: http://www.dailykos.com/...
The response to the diary was immediate and overwhelming. At last count, I received close to $1800 in donations. I cannot adequately articulate just how thankful I am for the outpouring of gifts and empathy. For the kind words of encouragement and advice. This money means I can pay for a place to stay, eat, pay my phone and storage bills, buy my meds and get around for a while longer.
I would especially like to thank 4freedom who spotted a comment I made in one of Charley James' diary and took it upon herself to write and publish the fundraising diary on my behalf. We've since spoken over the phone a couple times and exchanged several kosmails and I've come to appreciate her even more. She's an angel and I'll be forever grateful to her. Bless you, 4freedom.
Thanks also to Shoshanna for her help and advice.
At this point, my situation remains unchanged, in that I'm still trying to find a job and a new home. I have decided, however, that it would be better for me to return to NYC - which leads me to my first plea: If there's anyone who can help provide a room for me and my pup within the greater NY area, please let me know. I'm also open to temporarily placing my pup in a foster home until I find a place for both of us. Most importantly, if you are aware of any jobs (I'm open to anything at this point) please reach out.
My second plea is this: Please do not sit the November election out. I know that many of you are disappointed with President Obama and there are those who sat out the 2010 midterms and are maybe contemplating doing the same in November. If you are, please reconsider. Republican/conservative government and policies have real, devastating, long-term consequences. Republican policies mean chronic unemployment, homelessness, poverty, death and devastation. THAT IS NOT AN EXAGGERATION. If you can't bring yourself to vote FOR Obama, please get out and vote AGAINST conservatism.
THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART FOR YOUR KINDNESS. Tucker thanks you, too. :-)
