At the 2009 House Republican Conference retreat Mitt Romney made this statement of concern regarding President Obama:
" I hope for America’s sake that he knows that a Chief Executive can’t vote “present.” He can’t let others run the show. "
2009 House Republican Conference
Romney's hope wasn't misplaced. Our President is well aware of the importance of being the CEO as well as the Commander in Chief.
President Obama's statement today:
“Now, my understanding is that Mr. Romney attested to the SEC, multiple times, that he was the chairman, CEO and president of Bain Capital, and I think most Americans figure if you are the chairman, CEO and president of a company that you are responsible for what that company does,”
President Obama is correct.
Being familiar with much of the corporate culture my personal experience tells me that of course, Romney was aware of Bain's moves. There isn't even a "blind trust" defense in this matter. Romney was signing documents to be filed regarding various Bain movements and interests, was serving on the BOD of entities representing Bain's interests, etc., etc..
Mr. Romney has some serious explaining to do...but it seems that much of the rhetoric could be dismissed if the press would simply hold him to his own standard. The President met it, why can't Romney.
