So after days of drama, it seems to me that this is where we stand:
In defense of the assertion that Mitt Romney left Bain in February 1999 and had complete amnesia on the Romney designed and implemented business model under which they were operating at the time and under which they continued to operate in the years after 1999, we have:
1) Mitt's carefully parsed word (for what it is worth)
2) The word of the campaign spokespersons (Etch a Sketch experts that they are)
3) The word of random Bain associates, mostly anonymous
4) A back dated retirement settlement (way backdated)
What we do not have to support the assertion is:
1) SEC filings or papers
2) Sworn testimony before any government body
3) Contemporaneous newspaper or magazine articles
4) Contemporaneous press releases
5) Board of director minutes
6) Tax returns from the years in question
7) W-2 statements
8) Financial disclosure forms
Please add to or correct as needed.
