Ha! The new dkos image thingie is great, easy to use! Thought I would have a glass of wine and give it a try. Not much of a diary, but grab a glass of your favorite beverage and leave a comment or three if you have time.

Keep Austin Weird! If you have not been to Austin, you probably don't know that weird is a point of pride for many, that there are many that are, in Texicanese, ' a half a bubble off.'
Over the years we have done our best to contribute to that weird. Last week we were cleaning a drawer out at our old camp house in the Hill Country and came across this old shot from a late 70's Eyore's Birthday Party held back then on Thursday night instead of Saturdays as it is now.
Turning Texas Blue with Barack Obama
Even though not there today was glad to see the diary today trumpeting the campaign's success in San Antonio. Just noticed that a friend from the Texas Hill Country who is on his way back from a wedding in Amsterdam and posted on Facebook his plane was in Houston waiting for the President's plane to land in Austin .
So I decided go to Google News and see what was being written. Whoa, 7:22 Austin time and there are 177 articles already.
One, from the Houston Chronicle:
President draws supporters, few protestors in Austin
BY ANDREW MESSAMORE AND MIKAELA RODRIGUEZ
Barack Obama’s fundraising tour through Austin drew a large, diverse crowd outside of Austin Music Hall Tuesday. Supporters ranging in age, race and nationality formed a block-long line on Nueces Street as they awaited the POTUS.
Good news that he was well received, which is understandable since Austin in blue city in TX. Read earlier that there two levels of fundraisers in Austin, one by teh gays at starting at $250 a head, another at a private condo for $25,000.
Weird not of the Keep Austin Weird Variety
I was sickened to see this from teh above Houston Chron article:
Three men held signs countering the overall pro-Obama sentiment across the street from the event. One, Bob Green, said he knew the Republican Party of Austin can not turn Travis county blue, but would work toward the reachable goal of turning it “purple.”
“I wanted to let people know this president doesn’t deserve to be re-elected,” Green said.
Secret Service approached the three men and carefully read each sign, one of which calling for voters to “take out” Obama in the same way Seal Team Six eliminated Osama Bin Laden.
“It’s just in a political sense,” Green said. “Voters will take him out collectively.”
(Whatever! Lame, yes, but IMHO I think they should have arrested there @sses.)
Never fear, The President does not disappoint supporters!!
Obama gives supporters what they want in speech

At his first stop in Austin today, President Barack Obama spoke to a crowd of about 1,300 supporters and threw out plenty of political red meat (or the vegan equivalent) to the people who paid between $250 and $7,500 to see him speak at the Austin Music Hall.
Obama elicited loud cheers — and chants of “four more years” — when he talked about his accomplishments and his vision for another term in the White House.
Some of the biggest reactions came when the president mentioned ridding the military of “don’t ask, don’t tell,” the old policy that required gays in the military to keep their sexuality secret or get kicked out; passing the Affordable Care Act; and changing immigration policy to allow children of illegal immigrants born in other countries to have the ability to stay in the U.S. legally.
Most of the president’s words were positive, as he spoke to the friendly crowd. Though he did bash the Mitt Romney, the presumptive Republican nominee, on occasion.
Love to see the President leading the way to Turn Texas Blue!
6:25 PM PT: Full disclosure: Want Texas Blue more than ever now that the Republican fraudster/privatizers at the state level are after ourteacher pensions in TX!!)
