Kudos to the Bloomfield Township Fire Department!
A neighbor called in a report that she thought she might have an electrical fire, and the BTFD sent out what appears to be the entire friggin' fleet.
Seriously--no fewer than 5 fire engines, 2 ambulances and 1 emergency utility truck showed up half an hour ago, and are now leaving.
As far as I can tell, it doesn't look like anyone was hurt (yay) and if there was a fire it had to be pretty minor; no smoke, no flame, no sirens, and the firefighters seemed pretty calm about the situation.
They just pulled up stakes and headed back to the station.
Not much else to say except...
1. My six-year old son (who we were trying to get to go to sleep at the time) was very excited about the whole thing--how often does a 6-year old get to see not one, not two, but 6 real fire engines, lights flashing and everything, plus 2 ambulances? Exciting stuff.
2. We happen to have an emergency services millage renewal coming up in 2 weeks; I was already gonna vote YES, of course, but seeing them in action just underscores how vitally important taxes are for core services.
And, with that, the last ambulance just pulled out of the subdivision.
