I took a step yesterday to actually get involved locally as a Texas Democrat. I got up and went to the North East Bexar County Democrats office.
When I first got there, there were bags to be counted and literature to be placed into bags.
Well, that wasn't very hard.
Then the areas to be walked had to be decided on.
Then of course once the bags were ready, then people had to get them out to potential Democratic voters.
So that meant block walking.
The block walking part over the fold.
Block walking was something new to me. Doing politics for me in the past was paying for a dinner ticket and going to hear a politician speechify for a long time and then have questions later.
But I was introduced to the ways of block walking but none other than himself, John Courage.

We grabbed our bags and list of voters to visit. I thought it was actually very interesting that the first street we walked was the street behind the Catholic School my husband went to school as a little kid. LOL
This part was sort of hard. This is Texas so it was pretty hot. John had me follow him at first so I could see how to engage the voters. He had a script we went over a few times, too, so would know what to say and what questions to ask. Not hard.
So I took one side of the street and John took the other side. I was pretty proud of John when he spoke to people and asked for their vote.
We were not exactly in Democratic territory but still managed to find warm supporters that were willing to have a sign, accept literature, and just be nice to John and me. Lots of people were just not home.
Um, did I tell you it was hot?
Some people had moved away but the new residents still wanted the literature from the Democratic candidates like John Courage, Rebecca Bell - Metereau
Rebecca Bell - Metereau for State Board of Education.

Here is a picture for Rebecca working today. It's fuzzy, sorry. (I am a blogger not a photographer, oops)
John knocking on doors in the Texas heat! Can't you just hear the cicadas singing!

Other folks. I didn't get permission so I am glad my photos are not so good.
I also met Candace Duval

Candace Duval is running against Lamar Smith. (Who is trying to bring back SOPA https://www.eff.org/...)
So, going down to your local Democratic offices might be a good thing to do if you are getting antsy about this election.
I went to see the President and shook his hand. He stood there in front of many people and asked for their help.
I am helping! I am helping!!!!!
