Further proof you can't even have a "discussion" on the gun culture in this country. To do so in a public place might prompt a stranger who overhears you to pantomime shooting you with a rifle.
Sunday I was at a restaurant with friends having brunch before going to see the new batman film. Also at the restaurant were a bunch of bikers. At one point in the conversation I mentioned my FB post the other day regarding how our response to the shooting in CO was to ban costumes at movies not reasoned discussion on access to semi automatics or mental healthcare in this country.
Here's the FB post I was referring too:
"A possibly mentally ill person armed with a semi automatics weapons wearing Kevlar, throwing an incendiary device walks into a crowded theater wounds and kills many people (including children) and the response? Not start a civil reasoned national discussion on our access to semi automatic assault weapons..not discuss mental health care (or lack thereof in this country)..no we...decide we will stop wearing costumes to the movies! face palm"
Note: Nowhere in the post did I mentioned banning guns or trying to take away guns. Believe it or not I believe in gun ownership. Believe it or not I've fired an assault rifle (I do NOT own one).
In my discussion on Sunday I didn't mention banning either, but you know what happened? One of the bikers sitting at another table turned and looked at me then pantomimed pointing a RIFLE at me and shooting me.
Did you get that?!!! Pantomimed shooting me for simply talking with my friends about wanting to have a discussion about guns.
NO..I didn't shut up..I didn't fall quiet. I won't be intimidated, but to him and the folks who's knee jerk reaction is to say "OMG you wanna take my gun away!" I say to you: how sad you are so paranoid and afraid you can't even have a "discussion" or stand anyone else having a "discussion" about guns in this country.
