On today's show
DemFromCT makes his regular morning stop to talk issues and polling. We'll continue to digest what we've learned from Twitter friend @21Law and fellow Kossack where4art on the subject of the complexity of Bain Capital and Mitt Romney's exit, plus our usual walk through the day's news and events, spiced with a little snark.
Be sure to hang around afterwards for Jesse and Armando, and a full day of solid, progressive programming afterward, brought to you by the gang at Netroots Radio!

And because I still care... What's happening in Congress today?
In the House
The House will be playing some games with oil and gas drilling today. First, Republicans will offer—under suspension of the rules, so that it's guaranteed not to pass—a bill embodying President Obama's actual proposed 2012-2017 offshore drilling lease sale plan. Then, they'll follow that up with a vote under regular order on their own plan. You may recall that their bill had a terrible name: “Congressional Replacement of President Obama’s Energy-Restricting and Job-Limiting Drilling Plan." The staff in the Democratic Whip's office has taken to calling it the, "Replace President Obama's Responsible Job-Creating Drilling Plan with Another Big-Oil Giveaway Act," which is not much better, but perhaps more accurate.
After that, the House plans to hold the postponed vote on Rep. Ron Paul's (R-TX-24) audit the Fed bill, and then hold general debate on tomorrow's offering, the "Red Tape Reduction Act." And hey, here's a funny tidbit about that one! One of the provisions of the bill was supposed to prevent the administration from issuing any new business regulations until unemployment is reduced to 6% or less. But in a monumentally stupid drafting error, the original text of the bill actually says the administration can't issue any regs until employment reaches 6%! Well, if that's the case, Mitt Romney really is your man, then! He might even be able to actually pull that off!
In the Senate
The big item up for bids on the Senate floor today: a cloture vote on the motion to proceed to S.3412, the Middle Class Tax Cut. By unanimous consent, that vote will be held at 2:15 today. That's not a concession from Republicans or anything. The cloture motion was filed on Monday, which means it would have been ripe for a vote today, anyway. In fact, it's eligible an hour after the Senate's regular business starts for the day, so the agreement actually pushes it back a little. Whatever. We're likely looking at a second week in a row burned on failed cloture motions on motions to proceed.
Reform, maybe?
