A young man fled from a raid on a drug house was shot and killed by police today in Dallas, Texas. Now police have a civil unrest issue flaring up as families object to the sadism of police.
“I lost my son over a bag of damn weed,” she said. “I knew it was going to happen, but I didn’t know when.”
Television reports indicated that some people in the crowd were seen carrying guns.
At one point, at least one officer was seen firing what appeared to be pellets into the pavement in an effort to disperse the crowd.
In Anaheim tonight police are using "less than lethal" weapons on protesters injuring several and damaging property. The protests are a response to two questionable police shootings over the weekend followed by police firing upon and releasing a German Shepard on an infant and it's family while they were on their own lawn. Tonight a large group of protesters is in Anaheim after unsuccessfully trying to get their voices heard and action taken regarding police violence at the City Hall.
From my Anaheim post:
I'm trying to keep up to the news coming in and it appears there are scattered groups of protesters and groups of police the police are reportedly firing randomly into the crowd Beanbag rounds and pepper balls as well as other projectile weapons. Windows in at least one Starbucks have been broken out. Several dumpsters have been set on fire. Also several news vehicles have had their windows shattered buy police firing at them. There have been multiple injuries shown via cell phone camera of wounds from these "non-lethal" projectiles. Every injury I have seen an image of is in the back of the body. Ranging everywhere from calves to heads.
Sadly we can only expect more of this as the summer wears into the dog days. It can not be ignored in either case that there are primarily minority populations that are challenging their treatment by police.
