The Sequoia Forest Nature Trail is a short "hike within a hike" that takes you through an alpine meadow heavily populated by giant sequoia trees. It is located in the upper grove of the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias at Yosemite National Park.
As promised here Mariposa Grove photo diary I'm posting this companion diary. Starting in front of the museum in the upper grove this fantastic little trail is well worth walking.
This sign is at the road near the end of the trail. If you walked up all the way from Wawona you would see this sign and could take the nature trail in the opposite direction from here up to the museum.
I believe this sign was moved here from Sequoia National Park after the Giant Forest Lodge was closed to protect the roots of the trees there. I loved that place and was crushed when they closed it. They had small cabins in among the bases of the giant trees. It was a "magical" experience to stay there. I made sure to go there one last time during the final week it was open. I don't remember what year it was. Sometime in the mid 1990's. Here is a link to some information about what it was like. Giant Forest Village Info
I hope you enjoyed my photos. It is impossible to capture the experience of walking this trail through photography. I encourage you to go and walk this trail.
