Hammering this out on my iPad at the local Starbucks so forgive the lameness of the diary lacking in well organized and pretty little orange linky-links....mmmK?

It was brought in another post here and I think it's brilliant; Mitt is a walking gaffe machine and we need to help feed the Gaffe Machine with fuel so he can continue exposing his incompetency to compete for the job as President of the United States.

I'm referencing specifically his stop in Israel and the knowledge that he's avoiding the US press corp and only answering to the host country's press corp.  And the topic of nuclear-danger potential for Mitt is the issue of the ACTIVE practice of the Mormon church to posthumously convert Jews.

We MUST barrage all Israeli press organizations with the suggestion and reminder about The Mormon church's practice and have them ask Mitt on camera what his stance on this topic is. If we can have it happen live on US network news, it would be AWESOMEZZZ.

It will create a huge conundrum that will be hard for him to wiggle out of. I suspect we'll get to enjoy more 'Mitt-isms' that will make for great conversation and laughs at countless bars, kitchens, and living rooms of Progressives worldwide.

Here's the request:

1) Find every news organization in Israel

2) Email every Editor and writer to remind them of the Mormon ACTIVE church practice of posthumous conversion of Jews and whether they will ask Mitt Romney to explain his stance on this issue.

You and I know, this issue is DEEPLY offensive to the Jewish people.  And Mitt is the Mormon church's great white hope. It makes for a potential confrontation that will be entertaining to say the least. But more importantly will apply the kind of REAL PRESSURE the job of competing for the job of POTUS that #AmericanBorat needs to be subjected to.

Have a great Friday everyone!!

And email at least 5 members of the Israeli press today!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

    I agree with this.

They should also ask him the following:

    1. President Obama is the first U.S. President to hold Passover Seders in the White House. Will you be continuing that new tradition?

    2. The President just signed a bill authorizing $ 70 million dollars in additional Military aid, and has pledged increased cooperation. What would you do differently?

    3. Given the level of cooperation between the U.S. and Israel at this point.. a level that has been termed exceptional by both Defense Minister Barak and President Peres. How can you say that the the U.S. has not stood by the Israelis in tough times?

    4. Finally, President Obama's administration has been the main funding behind the successful Iron Dome anti-Missle system, along with funding for other defensive systems like Arrow, David's Slilng and Magic Wand. If elected would you continue to fund these programs?

that the Mormon question.  Mitt's not responsible for that, his church is/was.

I doubt mitt's heard of items in #4

So, perhaps a better question for the Mitt would be

Which system do you think will most help Isreal?  Arrow, David's Sing, or the Magic Want?  Will you continuing it?  Or will you continue to finance all three?

      •  Ah, (7+ / 0-)

but remember, Romney isn't just a member of his church, he's also type of Bishop, and his family is one of the "founding families" of Mormonism.  AND he has posthumously baptized people into Mormonism, including Ann's father.  I don't know if he specifically baptized any Jewish people, but his church sure has, and he IS a bishop.....

          And a Stake President.

These "callings" or jobs if you will expire, although in polite Mormon circles people would still refer to Mitt as President Romney.

Retired Stake Presidents get to keep the title.

Wait!  So would Mitt become President President Romney?

      •  WOE, why would you separate Mitt from his (0+ / 0-)

church like this? The FACT is he had free agency and he used that free agency to discriminate as his church demanded. HE made that choice.

If the church told him to kill, would he or the church be responsibnle for carrying out that dictate?

BTW, Jews might be interested to know they are considered Gentiles by the LDS. Strange, I know.

        •  Actually, Mormons consider themselves (0+ / 0-)

of the House of Israel through baptism into the Abrahamic Covenant.  I've never heard them refer to non-Mormon members of the House of Israel as gentiles.  The Mormons consider the native Americans children of the Abrahamic Covenant too.  This talk and   here explains.

Jews are considered of the House of Isreal, not gentiles.

Gentiles are all those NOT born into or adopted via baptism into the Covenant.

I'm not saying it's not a fair question, I just think the other questions are more important.

... important.  They are an affront to the sensibilities of Jewish people around the world.  Elie Wiesel believes that Mitt should be called on to lead his church to end this ridiculous and insensitive action.  Let Mitt answer the question and let's see if he takes action (and let him answer the questions VBoy asked).

bothers me... but what bothers me more is that Willard just doesn't seem to understand the issue and has no real solutions to propose.

He is simply co-opting most of the President's strategy (Egypt and Military cooperation), and combining that with the worst elements of the Occupation and the YESHA, not understanding that his support for the suicidal policies of the YESHA and the Israeli Far-Right will HURT Israel far more than help it.

Now, personally, Israel while very important to me is about # 6-7 on my voting priority list. I am not Israeli, I am American and I think President Obama and the Democrats are so far ahead of the Republicans on almost every domestic issue that to even think of voting for Romney is inconcievable.

That said, I care very much for Israel (I lived there for a year and get to go back next year to visit friends and family). I just don't see how anyone can be so deluded to actually think that given the President's record on Israel, how Mitt Romney could be any "better". I mean you would have to (as they say) be "tripping balls" to even think that Romney is even in the same ballpark.
