I am not at home today. I am out of state, attending a seminar.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
Y'all check in and talk amongst yourselves.
I am leaving you with a few sunrise photos and the knowledge that I will be (had to) get up at 4:00 am to make it to this seminar in time. Man it's hard to talk past tense when it hasn't hapened yet - reminds me of hte time I tore the stores apart looking for sliced peanut butter - 6 years before it was invented. For some reason, I had it in my mind I'd eaten sliced peanut butter as a child, and wanted to buy some for my children. The slices came individually wrapped liked some sliced cheeses. My children got so embarrassed when I'd ask store managers about it. I was so sure it existed.
And then, one day, it did!
And it was nasty. So now it doesn't exist anymore beyond a weird family story that my children laugh at me about to add to all the other stories of me shopping for things that didn't exist. They call them "Mama's Time Traveler Shopping Sprees", like the transforming high chair that could be a desk and chair, a step ladder, a high chair, and a swing or the portable cooking grill that fits in a pocket and opens out large enough to cook 4 burger patties at a time and uses either charcoal briquets or wood. I can find things almost like what I could swear I saw or once owned or knew someone who had one.
Have you ever shopped for something you knew existed but didn't?
WHile you think about it, here are some sunrise photos:
