HI ya'll!

It's been a while since I've organized one of these bashes. I hope that's left you all yearning to get together again, and not too annoyed at your humble hostess; I apologize for the hiatus, but life's been, um, interesting these last six months. I miss you all, and I'm looking forward to seeing your smiling faces again!

Now follow me beneath the gnocchi to learn who our special guests will be:

Please join me in welcoming the redoubtable gchaucer2, who has helped countless kossacks give up smoking and who recently was instrumental in getting NYC's own Eric Lewis'Animal Nuz a niche on the front page and Phil S 33, historian, Gulf Watcher extraordinaire, and participant in navajo's terrific new community feature, NEW DAY.

They're all the way down from the wilds of Connecticut, and other folks from beyond the boroughs will be joining us, too! Scroll down here to see some of the RSVP list, so far. Let's welcome them, reconnect with old friends and make some new ones!

We'll be gathering at Spitzer's Corner, where the food is yummy and the drinks are awesome. If you've come to any of our earlier meetups there, you know I'm not exaggerating!

Here's the data:

Date: Sunday, August 19
Time: 12 noon - ??
Place: Spitzer's Corner
101 Rivington Street (corner of Ludlow)
Directions by subway: J,M,Z,F to Essex St./Delancey Street Station.
If you're coming in from outside the city:

From Grand Central: take the downtown 6 train (6 stops) to Bleecker Street Station, walk downstairs to Broadway-Lafayette station, change for the downtown F train (2 stops) to Delancey Street Station.

From Penn Station: walk one block east to 34th St/Herald Square subway station, take F train (10 stops) to Delancey Street Station.

From Port Authority Bus Terminal:take the downtown A,C, or E train to West 4th Street Station (4 stops), walk downstairs and take the downtown F train (3 stops) to Delancey Street.

Any of these trips takes about 20-25 minutes.

If you are driving, there's a very inexpensive municipal lot a block or two away, on Delancey Street.

Please take the poll, so I can tell how much of Spitzer's we'll be occupying.

See you soon - I can hardly wait!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
