Anyone whose children have had contact with Rosalyn Elizabeth Burdett, 40 at a residence in Johnson County on County Road 526 or Jay Thomas Morgan, 49, 700 block of Simi Drive in Arlington is urged to call the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office at 817-556-6058 or 817-556-6060 after hours.

Photos recovered during the search of the woman’s house rank among the worst child pornography investigators have ever seen, Lt. Tim Jones said.

During questioning, Burdett admitted to engaging in sexual acts with the children and was arrested. The children involved at this point in the investigation are a 7-year-old boy and 9-year-old girl.

Investigation into both cases continues, Jones said, with additional interviews and search warrants expected to be conducted and served in Texas and other states.

Several news stories report investigators say it's some of the worst stuff they've seen in their careers, and

The woman is a state employee

Rosalyn E. Burdett, 40, also is a medical eligibility specialist with the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, an agency official said late Wednesday.

She is reportedly a single mother, and at least one news report indicated the children involved were actually hers.

Investigators went to Burdett's home on Monday where they said Burdett admitted to sexual acts with her two children.  Deputies also found lots of evidence at her home.

"The female's home unfortunately had graphic pictures that were available to be seen as well as some sexual toys, I guess you want to say," Jones told CW 33 News.

Investigators arrested Burdett and took her two children to Child Protective Services.  Officials with the sheriff's office said Burdett's seven-year-old son and nine-year-old daughter performed sexual acts on not just Burdett, but also her friend Morgan, and the two adults also performed sexual acts on the children.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

You may wish to find a DailyKos group specific to Texas, or to this region of Texas, and post this item there. As it is, this doesn't pertain to a large percentage of your readers.

On an unrelated note, there was a nice story in SFGate (the online version of the San Francisco Chronicle) about an adult woman survivor of child sexual abuse by Yusef Bey, a local black Muslim leader here in Oakland. This woman sounds like a hero.

(For some reason, I'm unable to paste a link to the story. Oh, well, I've probably given enough information for an interested person to find it.)

That's a sizeable community half way between Dallas and Ft. worth. It's the home of the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium, where the SuperBowl was held in 2011. The woman's home is in Mansfield, a bedroom community just south of that.

  •  I am sad to say that I know Roz (0+ / 0-)

. . . and know some of what is going on, at least what the police have said.

I know that the children are in foster care that is specially trained to provide support to child victims of sexual abuse. They receive health care and psychiatric counseling while their placement either with family or in foster care is decided.

Many of the people that knew Roz from work find it almost impossible to believe, or they blame it on Jay Morgan, the other defendent in this case. Unfortunately we know from investigators that the evidence pre-dates her involvement with Morgan.

To make something redemptive out of this, can we agree to remind ourselves of a couple of things, and make sure to try and teach others?

    1) Abuse often begets abuse. Roz's background certainly contributed to this.

    2) Abusers are often NOT what you think they would be. They can be professionals, well educated and polished. Their air of compentence and normalcy provides excellent cover.

    •  Thank you Myrrhis for your insight on this case (0+ / 0-)

And you are correct.  Abusers are gifted in social skills, often grooming the parents as well as the children.  Pedophiles exist right out in the open.  As evidenced by Jerry Sandusky, they often participate in activities that allow them access to children, hold positions of high authority and trust (think catholic priests, scout leaders, teachers, coaches), and are often pillars of the community.

My grandfather was such a pillar.  Anyone who knew him would be as incredulous as you are now - swearing up and down that there was "no way" he could do such a thing.

While sometimes people who are sexually abused as children do abuse children, the research is inconclusive as to this being a root cause.  I know in my situation, none of us became abusers - and I have heard from many survivors of child sexual abuse that they purposefully choose NOT to have children or be around children for fear that they WILL abuse them.

Please keep us up to speed on what's happening in this case - you can email me direclty if you wish at Roxine@treeclimbersinc.org

      Thank you,
