My state of Maryland is solidly blue, although I live in a red rural area.  Because the state is so solidly blue, we get very few TV ads concerning the national election.

But I was just watching CNN and saw the worst anti-Obama attack ad I've ever seen.  Apparently the ad is called "Shady" and calls for "10,000 signatures" to get Mr. Obama "disqualified from the ballot," whatever that is supposed to mean.

It was the meanest collection of lies and birtherism and Obama CTs I've ever seen.

The ad directed people to ""  That link resolves to a page on "," which has a link to the ad.  That page, by the way, claims that Sheriff Arpaio found "indisputable evidence" that Mr. Obama's birth certificate is fraudulent.

This website (and the TV ad) claim to be promoted by something called the "Conservative Majority Fund."

If you google "Conservative Majority Fund," there are many recent posts commenting on this new ad campaign.  But I couldn't find anybody who claims to know who is behind this.  Is this another Koch brothers astroturf racket?

Incidentally, I don't see any reason not to give the links.  They're easily findable.  And it's not like they care about pageviews.

This is really dirty politics.  I'd like to see this PAC exposed.

I also question their sanity in running an ad like that in Maryland.  (Correct me if I'm wrong, but I assume CNN and other cable news shows have different ads in different regional and local markets, not just one big national set.)

Have you seen this nasty ad yet?

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
