Some disconnected thoughts, some new, some which have been in my head for a while, below the squig.
-Is the "I have paid my taxes every year" not Mitt Romney's "I am not a witch" moment? Has his campaign reached that level of comedy (albeit with drier humor)?
-Why do we citizens not put together a class-action suit against Fox News for false advertising, since it is incorporated not as a news network, but as an entertainment network? Am I wrong in thinking that a network defined as entertainment should not be allowed to bill itself as news? (Sort of like how, for an orange juice manufacturer to put the Florida seal on its juice, it has to meet certain quality tests.)
-The older and less athletic I get, the more I'm astounded by the athletes in the Olympics. (Okay, that's not a question.)
Quoting the Constitution, Article V:
"The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose Amendments to this Constitution, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either Case, shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States, or by Conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress; Provided that no Amendment which may be made prior to the Year One thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any Manner affect the first and fourth Clauses in the Ninth Section of the first Article; and that no State, without its Consent, shall be deprived of its equal Suffrage in the Senate."
-There are several draft versions of the "corporations are not people" amendment in the works. If I read the above aright, it is possible to bring an amendment into effect without the interference of Congress. I understand that the Citizens United plague is even more effective at the state level than the national, but is it not time for Kossacks, and anyone interested, to start organizing at the state level to bring this about?
