A couple of semi - reliable show feeds via the intertubz? Check. A functioning new purty keyboard for my iPad? Check. So, we are back! :D If any of the aforementioned tech goodies go on the fritz anymore, I'm just gonna find a cave & go all neanderthal and never come out again.
It's time for "this day in history." On August 6, 1945, the United States dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan, that instantly killed an estimated 66,000 people in the first use of a nuclear weapon in warfare. On this date in 1965, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act. And, if the GOBP has anything to say, that legislation will go the way of Crystal Pepsi.
On this date in 2009, Sonia Sotomayor was confirmed as the first Hispanic Supreme Court justice by a Senate vote of 68-31. And, there was much rejoicing from this guy.
How much have y'all missed SPARK? :D I wonder what was wrong with this person's clothes dryer? Check out what a real Barbi would look like. We had a wardrobe malfunction at the Olympics? HA! Finally, how the spark could you think THIS was a banana??!!
On with The Rachel Maddow Show! Man, it feels good to type that again. :D
"A Domestic Terrorist Type Situation" - Another absolutely horrible mass shooting from an off - balance WHITE GUY who had no business owning a gun, but we must not talk about gun control because it's politicizing the event...or something. Sound about right? *&^%$#@! I'd call it a hate crime, too because he targeted those poor souls probably because of their ethnicity and/or religious beliefs. Some faith communities are actually reaching out to the community to see what comfort they can be. Now, THAT'S faith. Amardeep Kaleka's father was killed yesterday. Wow, I wonder if tonight was his first TV appearance?
"Hulk Smash" - Senate Majority Harry Reid has set his sights on the Mittwit's lack of tax return submissions. Mittwit has been telling Majority Leader Reid to "put up or shut up." Well Mittwit, how 'bout YOU put up or shut up?? Yea, keep getting him angry. You might not like it when he's angry, but we sure as $hit will! :D Can y'all imagine if Mittwit REALLY didn't pay taxes for 10 years?? Yea, I think that just might sink him. ;D He's now called Mittwit the most secretive candidate - even more than Dick Nixon! Mr. RNC "boss" called the Majority Leader a "dirty liar"?! Huh...me thinks an apology's in order - unless the Mittwit releases the returns & proves him wrong.
"Political Pros and Cons" - 8% of surveyed registered voters are undecided concerning whether President Obama or the Mittwit's their guy in November. Well, the likes of Jack Abramahoff & Ralph Reed will do their darnest to help change your mind & make them more rich in the process. On second thought, these guys are chump change next to the Kochtopus. And, Sheldon Adelson?? Holy $hit! Oh Rachel, thanks ever - so - much for putting the image of a humping Ralph Reed into my brain pan before I go to sleep! DAMN MY EYES! Ralphie's back - oh goody. Well, we do love a comeback story in this country, yes? *&^%$#@! Is this National Center for Public Policy Research rearing its ugly rear, too? I guess so, and their pet issue is "voter fraud" aka making sure that folks who will vote for President Obama can't get to the polls. Steve Kornacki gets bad 1990s flashback duty in studio tonight. The MENSA folk are gambling that undecided voters will sour on President Obama because of the economy. All that scandal stuff & shenanigans won't matter at all - unless Mittwit really didn't pay taxes for 10 years.
"Retro - Activists" - Religious institutions get an extra year to comply with the "birth control" aspects of the ACA. Well, they might just find out that women will like not having a co - pay for their birth control or other preventative care. ;D Some places, like Wheaton College, already covered it but didn't know it, so they got rid of it so they could *itch & moan about President Obama being anti - religion. CLASSY!
"Best New Thing in the World Today" - Curiosity's on Mars, and I bet Marvin the Martian is very angry indeed. :D One guy in the room did a little premature jocularity in the landing, too!
