Money.
Everything is all about money every day of every year and every second of every day.
Money, money, money.
Money is little green pieces of paper.
We invented money. It didn't come from a higher entity or spiritual force. It was invented by us, for us.
It's only powerful because we allow it to be. It only has value because we put that value to it. Without our faith, loyalty, obedience, and participation, money is worth nothing. It is merely little green pieces of paper. It is an object.
For these little green piece of paper, we compete against each other. We work jobs we absolutely hate to get it, then spend it on things we probably don't need or could easily live without. Jobs that slowly kill us and age us beyond our time. Jobs where we spend more of our time than with our families. We slave away for it. We steal for it. We lie for it. We kill for it. We destroy our planet for it. We die for it.
The people who have the most little green pieces of paper rule the land. The ones who have the least suffer.
We dedicate our entire lives to little green pieces of paper. Your status as a human being is measured on how much of it you have. If you have a lot of them, you are a successful person. If you have very few of them, you are a loser.
Some of us work our entire lives and play by every rule, yet still have only a few green pieces of paper. Some of us are merely born into a family that has many of them and never have to work or know the feeling of wanting or needing.
We spend most of our lives chasing these little green pieces of paper. We think we own it, but it owns us. As people we have created an object which consumes and perverts us.
We've convinced many of our women that a man's worth and value as a companion is measured by how many little green pieces of paper he has. Loyalty, compassion, character, and even appearance are secondary to how many little green pieces of paper he has. If he has a lot of them, he is a good provider and mate. If he has too few of them, he is a deadbeat and not worthy of an emotional relationship. He cannot make you happy without it.
Little green pieces of paper give you power. Everyone wants power. These little green pieces of paper are only powerful because we instill that power in them.
These little green pieces of paper can give you a wonderful life but they cannot save you from a certain death.
Someday you are going to die and there is nothing you can do about it. When this happens, you won't be thinking about how you made a million little green pieces of paper in one day or how many of them you have in the bank. You won't think about how you can make a million more tomorrow.
You will think about when you saw your children being born. The first time you kissed your spouse. You'll think about the times you laughed and the times you cried. You will think about the moments you shared with the people you knew in your life....
All the things little green pieces of paper could never buy.
Sadly, it is then that most of us will realize that those little green pieces of paper never meant anything. It was us the entire time.
We will not appreciate the true spiritual value of the life we have until it is gone. We won't realize how brainwashed and obsessed we've become until we are shocked into the reality that it never really mattered.
You are not a robot. You are a living, breathing animal. You are not your credit score or your bank account. You are not the property you own or the things inside of it. You are not a democrat or republican. You are a human being that is capable of more than you are allowed to imagine.
Someday, we as a human race will evolve out of the control these little green pieces of paper have over us. We will reach a spiritual level that renders it useless as well as destructive. We will build a new foundation that measures human character and capability over possession of objects with fake, synthetic values.
This will not happen anytime soon, but it will happen.
I do not have the answers as to how, all I have is hope.
I hope because I feel that our overall survival depends on it.
