I'm not sure if this whole diary will flow 100% and I apologize if it doesn't. Let me start by saying I moved from NJ to Indiana. From a more liberal state to the heart of the Bible belt. My wife and I found a great church with great teaching and great people, BUT they seem to have a daily issue with Gays and Abortion. There are versus that are pointed to and as a Christian these are views people are supposed to follow. So why would I write this??

I write this because I think Democrats can start to change the narrative while keeping our support for the things we believe in. This election is going to come down to two things. 1. Will Democrats vote?? ( If they don't then we are in trouble with all of the voter suppression issues taking place)
2. Will Independents vote with us or will they vote for something new even if it isn't??
Why is number 2 important because that's where the Adoption push comes in to play. I understand the importance of a woman's right to choose her health care PERIOD!! But many in this country don't. There are a lot of religious institutions that might be more progressive but do not believe in the concept of Abortion. So let's take it right to the GOP and push Adoption. President Obama should announce a 1 billion dollar or more national adoption program. Push for support from state local and religious organizations. Create programs to make it easier to adopt and/or find foster parents for our nations children. Explain how important it is for our kids to have a good safe home and then push the funding AND WAIT.....
Wait For Ryan/Romney to tell us how we shouldn't be spending taxpayers money for Adoption services (Even though we already do). Why we should leave it to the organizations already running these programs which we know are short staffed and underfunded. (Just search the internet for some big stories about kids being abused in religious run foster homes).
Since the GOP will tell us social programs are so bad for the United States I know that any Democrat that pushes this issue should be able to do very well. You can't be against both programs Ryan/Romney.
What does everyone think? Am I on the right path??
