In order to visualize Paul Ryan's plan for most voters, something more is needed than simple wonky Washington budget talk. That thing is an actual printed voucher campaign prop that could work in races all across the country.
The Obama campaign should have thousands (perhaps millions) of printed Medicare "vouchers" distributed at campaign events and rallies to drive home the point on Ryan's plan.
The fake vouchers, while obviously campaign props, would have the faux look of government printing with title: ROMNEY RYAN MEDICARE VOUCHER.
At the center of the voucher would be Romney and Ryan portraits in an oval.
Underneath the headline could read something like: "With this coupon you can redeem your retirement safety at 50 cents on the dollar of your lifetime contribution."
The Medicare vouchers could be available for printing by supporters off the campaign web site, but should also be distributed in large numbers at all events.
The president should hold up the voucher as a prop during speeches and call it a coupon.
It is important to use the word "coupon" when referring to the vouchers in all speeches and media avails.
It is imperative that the Obama campaign and Democrats in all races visualize for voters the medicare vouchers that Paul Ryan wants to give people to replace the most important and successful social safety net in their lives. Ryan's voucher is a coupon that cuts a benefit voters have already paid for through payroll taxes, and will one day come to rely on.
