And keep in mind when listening to them speak, as they both spin their records in private business and public business/affairs, especially at rallies like the last couple of days since naming Ryan as the running mate, or was it next president as the Mitt said.

Not a mention of Veterans, the Military, nor the Wars, with some six lost just this week in Afghanistan, except for one of them few words of 'support' so those there can chant the 'patriotic' 'usa' 'usa' 'usa'......., funny thing is in Norfolk, of all places, the chants weren't brought on by 'support of the troops' phrases.

And I didn't hear him mention the soldiers or veterans in the Charlotte speaks today, though without the crowd, some 2,000 in Mooresville NC, goin nuts with flag wavin one could easily have missed a few 'patriotic' words.

Biden's son warns of Romney plan to 'voucher-ize' veterans benefits
August 12, 2012 - Vice President Joe Biden’s son Beau, a major in the Delaware Army National Guard who served in Iraq, is challenging Mitt Romney’s commitment to veterans, suggesting American military men and women may be swept up in a rush to privatization of government services under a White House led by the former Massachusetts governor.

In a phone interview with The Daily Times Herald, Beau Biden, 43, the Democratic attorney general of Delaware, said presumptive GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney has embraced elements of privatization for Medicare and other federal programs in the form of House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan’s controversial proposals.

What’s more, Biden said, Romney has more than hinted at dramatic changes to veterans benefits.

“He chose Veterans Day of last year to assemble a group of veterans to propose the voucher-izing of veterans benefits, which is a not-so-very euphemism for the privatizing of veterans benefits,” Biden said.

Last November, Romney did raise the specter of Veterans Affairs privatization.  read more>>>

Now some may say that the mitt abandoned that idea, please remember, we're talking about Rmoney here.

And as for Ryan, he's never been a friend of the VA, even while rubber stamping wars costs and not thinking once as to what the country owes those sent and sacrificing and their promised commitment of fully funding the VA, especially as we waged wars: Ryan Seeking to Cut Already Underfunded VA Budget {takes ya to the post I put up here yesterday}

Now I didn't add this to yesterdays post here, did at my site after receiving an E about it to remind me:

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

  •  Yeah... let's cut Veterans benefits! (8+ / 0-)

There couldn't possibly be any negative to abandoning those who have fought our wars.

I mean, homeless Vietnam veterans were a classic joke of the 80's.  It will work great again now, right?

  •  And on 'privatizing' (6+ / 0-)

And where public monies go to the hands of the few and the investors in:

It shouldn't be just Democrats fighting the reality of privatization, the transfer of public funds into the hands of the few only concerned with bottom lines and certainly not quality nor innovations from each individual mind, it should be every tax payer through every representative they pay! And in this case the growth of the education industry and Not higher education!

For-profit colleges fight back as Democrats attack
Aug. 09, 2012 - The debate over for-profit colleges that has provoked arguments in Congress for months is now seeping into the presidential race.

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney plans a campaign stop Sunday at the for-profit NASCAR Technical Institute outside Charlotte – a show of support for an industry that has been hammered by Democrats in recent months.

Caught in the middle are the tens of thousands of veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars who want to finish their education and rejoin the workforce. Those veterans are turning heavily to for-profit institutions.

A recent Senate Democratic committee report found that eight of the top 10 colleges receiving post-9/11 GI Bill money from the Department of Veterans Affairs are for-profit institutions.

The report found that taxpayers spent $32 billion last year on the industry. Fifteen of the largest for-profit colleges received 86 percent of their revenues from federal student aid programs, according to the report, issued by Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa. read more>>>

August 12, 2012 Too many for-profit colleges fail to deliver for students

Which by the way, all these monies add to the deficit growth. As Nobody has demanded Sacrifice especially related to the Military their Families and Veterans for a decade plus and added to the previous decades. As to this past decade plus, the deficits started rising as soon as the previous administration depleted the surplus and their congresses started rubber stamping the wants of, Before 9/11, and that never stopped as the wars costs, all of it, was rubber stamped and off the books, till the present administration, and borrowed. The tax cuts, especially for the wealthy, came with the wars and continued made worse by the total collapse of the economy and the rapid run down, which had already started, to unemployment for millions. No revenues have been forth coming, so all spent related to the wars and the veterans of is on borrowed funds as those needs grow rapidly and have the whole time. The flag wavin 'patriots' call that 'support' and that's the whole country served but for the few who really do get it and try to help in various organizations or volunteering and give of themselves , time and their labors, as real 'Support' because the government, the people, won't!

and Ryan consider themselves to be people of faith, while proposing such cruel plans so detrimental to the common good.

And, so few politicians of any Party are willing to discuss the fact that more than a third of the deficits and debt incurred since President Clinton handed off budget surpluses to Bush, have come from unfunded- increases to defense spending. and homeland security.

Our first step back to a balance budget should be returning revenues and defense spending back to proportionate fractions of GDP during the Clinton era.

Ya might want to throw some love and support here:

    Gabbard upsets Hannemann

Honolulu City Councilwoman Tulsi Gabbard handily beat former Mayor Mufi Hannemann to win the Democratic nomination for the U.S. House seat in the 2nd Congressional District.

Her win caps an improbable rise from a distant underdog to victory over Hannemann, 58, for a seat he has coveted since he first ran for public office in 1986.

Others have been sending out news about this but Soltz sent this out apparently right as it was breaking as they had only changed the headline then not updated the article. And this is what he headlined the E with:
This morning, we are one step closer to making history. In Hawaii, VoteVets PAC-endorsed Iraq veteran Tulsi Gabbard has won her primary, in a stunning come-from-behind victory. If she wins in November, she along with Tammy Duckworth (who we also feel very good about), would be the first female combat veteran ever elected to Congress in United States history!
