Disgusting!  Here we go again!  The GOP roughing up those who don't agree with them.  Paul Ryan makes fun of this man.  This 71-year-old man was genuinely concerned about Ryan's plans for Medicare and Social Security.  How was he treated?  Was this elderly man respected?  No!  The unmitigated gall of Romney and Ryan to espouse the Declaration of Independence while simultaneously discounting the right of this man to express his concerns.  Oh, the irony!

71-year-old taken to the ground and handcuffed for asking Paul Ryan a question

As Congressman Paul Ryan cracked a joke about him, Tom Nielsen found himself face down on the floor being handcuffed by police. The 71-year-old retired plumber from Kenosha was thrown to the ground, placed in handcuffs, and arrested for trespassing and resisting arrest after objecting to Ryan's plans to gut Social Security and Medicare during his congressman's only public appearance scheduled during the August recess -- a $15 Rotary Club luncheon in West Allis on Tuesday.

Nielsen repeatedly told police that he wasn't fighting them and that he didn't want to make any trouble. He also told them several times that he had a broken shoulder. Police officers ignored his comments as they wrestled him to the ground despite his howls of pain.

Nielsen's comment to Ryan at the luncheon, his arrest, and Ryan's joke are all captured on video available here.

Remember the 2010 Campaign season?  I do.  The same violent reaction to dissent.

Let's refresh our memory:

Rand Paul

We will begin with the young woman who was curb stomped by one of Rand Paul's campaign managers:

Eric Cantor

Try to justify the media's "County Sheriffs struggled with Taylor for several minutes. The tangle required three officers before he was finally subdued" reporting:

Joe Miller - Alaska

There's a better video of here Meet Joe Miller's Thugs: Drop Zone Security

CAN AMERICA AND AMERICANS REALLY AFFORD TO LET ANY OF THESE HEARTLESS THUGS ANYWHERE NEAR THE LEVERS OF POWER?

My guess is that there won't be too many events where people who aren't vetted will be in attendence.

This won't happen again because I highly doubt Romney's events will be attended by anyone other than his base:

Oddly, I can't find any videos of people being handcuffed at an Obama event.

Here's how Obama handles hecklers

Amazingly, Obama shows concern for an angry religious zealot shouting at him from the front row

Can you imagine how this would be handled by the GOP?

How would they handle this?

Obama handles hecklers in a very classy way.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
