The weather continues hot, but not brutally so.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
My grass is greening back up - and that's without watering.
I know. Dead grass is a fire hazard. I just can't see my way to spending money on dead grass. I don't live in a wildfire danger area. There aren't enough large trees around to present such a danger, and what trees there are are dying off from heat no matter how much they get watered.
My redbud, for example. If this winter is as harsh as the 2009 and 2011 winters were, it won't survive. Redbuds are delicate trees and the only reason mine has survived so far is because it's about 50 years old and has really deep roots.
This was the 2009 late snow that damaged the redbud:
But, the grass, it grows and grows. And so I have to mow this weekend.
How is your garden/yard doing?
