Standard disclaimer: Leave your loathing of meta, World of Warcraft, or community diaries outside. If you think we should be playing your MMO instead, start a guild and write a recruitment diary. Don't leave a comment here and then get all hurtful when it isn't received with flowers and candy. This goes double for people coming in to attack guildies over other diaries or comments - STAY OUT! Link to your recruitment diary is OK though.
Standard advertisement: Wreck List is the Daily Kos World of Warcraft guild. We are Horde-side on the Garrosh server. To join, read this diary and visit the Guild web site to put in an application. Yes, you have to be Horde. No, you don't have to be hardcore - casuals, PvPers, and people that just want to hang out on guild chat are all welcome.

More Olympics, less Hunger, Pamena announces preparations for the Wreck List Games:
Wreck List Games!!!
Dkosmama and Senta, with help from a guildie who has generously donated a couple of amazing prizes, are planning on a fun event for all guildies for sometime in September, possibly the weekend before MOP drops. We are still in the planning stages, but some things that have been mentioned are a scavenger hunt, and some sort of PVP game/event. And of course, clams. If you have any ideas for fun events you'd like us to try, let me or Mama know - trust me, the prizes are items that almost everyone will want, so hopefully we can get a lot of people to participate and have fun together! More on this to follow in the days to come.
Keep an eye out here and on the guild site - I'll be keeping you all informed of Wreck List Games news even if I have to break Thursday morning weekly schedule to do it.
I'm sure that none of you are interested in the Mists of Pandaria opening cinematic. If you are, you can find a link to it here.
Let's go on to our raid reports:
Team RubiPam raid report:
Well, in what seems likely to be our swan song on progression raiding in Dragon Soul, Team RubiPam pulled out a win against Heroic Blackhorn last Thursday night! It is an interesting fight, and requires a lot of movement to the right places at the right time, plus high and timely damage dealing to the drakes, the Sapper and Goriona before finally getting to the tank and spank phase on the Warlord himself. It did seem, though, once we got the first phase down, that the last part went pretty smoothly, the last time through at any rate. A great job by everyone, and it was epic to have it down.
But now we're in for a lot of changes in this group - we've lost a couple of regulars this week (one wanted to raid with friends that are not in the guild, another is moving to a 25 man setting); we have one person out until MOP, putting his wedding together and other things; and another who now lives in Alaska which presents some time zone challenges, to say the least. We do have guildies responding at the web site thread asking for interest in raiding in MOP, and I'm sure others will return to the game and possibly want to get into regular raiding in the expansion. At this point, though, everyone in our group is well geared to start MOP, with both mains and alts probably over geared for the first round of dungeons in MOP. So we will be cutting back on regular raiding for the next few weeks, probably only running once a week if that - and when the patch drops, we may organize some 5 mans just for everyone to practice their new talents and changes to familiar spells. I'm very proud of us for getting to 6/8 heroic - that's frankly much further than I thought we'd get, but at this point, I'm pretty sick of DS and really ready for some new stuff!
Other raiding: I've been organizing a casual raid night on Saturday nights, and it's been pretty successful, I think. Last week, a combination of alts from the existing raid groups plus some folks who haven't gotten to raid regularly at all, did the first 6 fights in Dragon Soul without a lot of fuss or bother - thanks in great part to Hummper being willing to drop what he was doing and come in to tank for us. I will keep these on the calendar, and I urge anyone who's trying to get as geared as possible for MOP or who just wants to experience DS on normal before the expac drops, to join in. However, I will say that we're all going to be replacing our purples with MOP greens very, very quickly when the expansion drops, so there's no real point in getting obsessed with gearing to the teeth at this late stage.
Patch time! The pre-MOP patch drops 8/28 and will make massive changes to most people's spellbooks and talents - there will also be account wide mounts, some changes in your UI, the first changes to some professions, and, eventually, the "event" involving Theramore. We have info up at the web site (most of it uncovered by our indefatigable researcher Nina) about a lot of the changes that are coming, and I think most people will find it useful to do a little reading on the new stuff ahead of time. And hey, at least this time we won't have the panic in the streets that ensued when people discovered the portals in Dalaran had disappeared, in the pre-Cata patch!
And finally, Mahuae's Tab Eight Report is looking ready for MoP:
