The Iraq war was an incredibly stupid venture, but there were some stirring moments, like when the citizens of Iraq voted and showed the cameras their purple fingers as a symbol of their new freedom. Isn't ironic that so many of our kids died to make the purple fingers happen, yet here at home Republicans are shamelessly undermining our democracy with their voter suppression efforts.
Does the rest of America know what these rich white men wearing American Flag lapel pins are up to? Maybe we need an conversation starter as well as a visible way to protest.
How about a purple middle finger. Even when it isn't on display, it will provoke questions which can be answered by this: "Our soldiers died so that the citizens of Iraq could vote and show that they voted with a purple finger. Here at home, there are those who are undermining our democracy with voter suppression laws. This is my protest."
