More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

You can add a private note to this diary when hotlisting it:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary from your hotlist?
Are you sure you want to remove your recommendation? You can only recommend a diary once, so you will not be able to re-recommend it afterwards.
Rescue this diary, and add a note:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary from Rescue?
Choose where to republish this diary. The diary will be added to the queue for that group. Publish it from the queue to make it appear.

You must be a member of a group to use this feature.

Add a quick update to your diary without changing the diary itself:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary?
(The diary will be removed from the site and returned to your drafts for further editing.)
(The diary will be removed.)
Are you sure you want to save these changes to the published diary?

    •  That's exactly it. (0+ / 0-)

If they just completely ignore Bush altogether they can make all the right wingers believe that before Obama took office everything was fantastic. They know how toxic Bush is so it has been their plan from day one to completely ignore him, not make any reference to him and just pretend he never existed.

  •  And, of course, we already "know" that Obama... (9+ / 0-)

... turned the surplus into a deficit, bailed out the banks, got us into two wars, failed to protect us from terrorists, turned our public schools into failures, and caused the racial tension we have in this country. And stuff.

No matter the absence of truth - even "truthiness" - in Ryan's latest claim, it will be readily absorbed into the reality of those who detest the President. They constantly crave some justification for their fear and loathing, even if it is invented justification.

If you don't stick to your values when they're tested, they're not values. They're... hobbies. -- Jon Stewart, Jan. 22, 2009

  •  The 4 ways the Romney/Ryan plan (11+ / 0-)

    affects TODAY'S seniors.

    1.  Cuts the time until Medicare insolvency by 8 years thus increases the chance that Medicare premiums will increase.

    2.  Opens the doughtnut hole so seniors pay hundreds of dollars per year more in prescription drugs

    3.  Today's seniors will no longer have free preventative care.

    4.  Turning Medicare into a voucher program will syphon off less sick seniors to the private insurance market which will cause seniors who stay on traditional Medicare to pay MORE in premiums every year.

Now the Obama team and Democrats need to REPEAT REPEAT & REPEAT these FACTS.

Well if you remember I told you guys that my parents did not vote for Obama the first time. Then I added that my dad said he was going to vote for Obama this time.
Then I told you that my mother said she was not going to vote for Romney.
Now the other day she said she wants Obama to win.
That means they are voting for Obama, not against Mitt.
       Do you realize that?

I told you guys last night that my favorite used record store is shutting it's doors today. I just got home from there.
I got a John Coltrane/ Thelonious Monk rare concert poster for my cousin as a Christmas present, a Benny Goodman CD, and a Big Bill Morganfield CD. He's Muddy Waters's son.
There wasn't much to be had.
I wished them to be open again soon. The closing was due to an issue about the lease, it wasn't financial.

You guys can call him what you want, after today he'll forever be known to me as Mitt the Inept., and Lady Ann his wife.

I expect this news along with the breaking news that the Koch bros spent $100,000,000 to buy a vp candidate, to go nowhere.  Call me cynical, but with the media owned by Murdock and Comcast/NBC what can you expect.

    Recommended by:

no matter how much gas cost, or who was president. The Janesville plant is an ancient, multistory, cavernous structure built decades ago, and long obsolete. I have been inside it, and it is a white elephant.

For many reasons, the physical layout of the building itself makes it unsuited to efficient production of automobiles using modern assembly line setups and methods. Their product was Chevy Suburban SUVs and medium duty truck chassis (think dump trucks). The closure was already in the works when the Bush depression hit.

Plants like this one--outdated, inefficient, and far too costly to convert to modern use--have been closed down nationwide by all the automakers. They just are not useable as auto assembly plants any more.

      •  Found a transcript of Obama's speech at the GM (0+ / 0-)

plant in Janesville on 13 Feb 2008 here. From it:

We are not standing on the brink of recession due to forces beyond our control. The fallout from the housing crisis that’s cost jobs and wiped out savings was not an inevitable part of the business cycle. It was a failure of leadership and imagination in Washington – the culmination of decades of decisions that were made or put off without regard to the realities of a global economy and the growing inequality it’s produced.

It’s a Washington where George Bush hands out billions in tax cuts year after year to the biggest corporations and the wealthiest few who don’t need them and don’t ask for them – tax breaks that are mortgaging our children’s future on a mountain of debt; tax breaks that could’ve gone into the pockets of the working families who needed them most.

It’s a Washington where decades of trade deals like NAFTA and China have been signed with plenty of protections for corporations and their profits, but none for our environment or our workers who’ve seen factories shut their doors and millions of jobs disappear; workers whose right to organize and unionize has been under assault for the last eight years.

It’s a Washington where politicians like John McCain and Hillary Clinton voted for a war in Iraq that should’ve never been authorized and never been waged – a war that is costing us thousands of precious lives and billions of dollars a week that could’ve been used to rebuild crumbling schools and bridges; roads and buildings; that could’ve been invested in job training and child care; in making health care affordable or putting college within reach.

And it’s a Washington that has thrown open its doors to lobbyists and special interests who’ve riddled our tax code with loopholes that let corporations avoid paying their taxes while you’re paying more. They’ve been allowed to write an energy policy that’s keeping us addicted to oil when there are families choosing between gas and groceries. They’ve used money and influence to kill health care reform at a time when half of all bankruptcies are caused by medical bills, and then they’ve rigged our bankruptcy laws to make it harder to climb out of debt. They don’t represent ordinary Americans, they don’t fund my campaign, and they won’t drown out the voices of working families when I am President.
