Teacher's Comments from Mrs. Rosenkrans:
My Students: I have very inquisitive physics students. They love working with manipulatives and seeing how things work. We have been studying waves and wave motion. I have some materials to do this, but am lacking a wave table. The requested materials would allow us to study reflection and refraction.
This is a small, rural school district. Many of my students go on to college or a technical school. Quite a few of them are using science in their careers after leaving our district. I enjoy showing them a variety of concepts and how to apply them further.
My Project: These two wave tables will allow my students to explore and design experiments to test the theories they are learning about. We play with Slinkys now, but they move so fast it is difficult to see the waves. This would help slow those down. And who would not love to play with water?
These wave tables will help my students visualize what happens to sound and light waves as they are moving. This is something that can be explained, but having a direct visual makes it so much more concrete.
