The Bain Capital issue and their total disregard for Business Ethics is the absolute key issue to winning this election.
Not Medicare. Not the Tax Returns.
Basically on Medicare and Tax Returns we are arguing issues although quite correctly - these issues are somewhat complex and the average voter cannot understand them.
Bain Capital coming into a company, taking it over, firing the workers and outsourcing the jobs is something every voter can understand. They can understand how the Bain Capital managers come in, lie to the workers their jobs are safe, then fire them when they are ready.
Voters can understand how they cut their retirement and healthcare benefits. Most of the voters have even seen this happen somewhere or even know a friend of family acquaintance who is a victim of Bain Capital or a similar firm.
When the ad about Mr. Soptic came out - Republicans were furious. It struck a nerve in the public and Romney immediately started sinking like a rock in the polling data. They understood this issue - and responded accordingly to the Bain Capital issue.
We need more Bain Capital ads - lots more. We also need Romney saying "I like to Fire People" at the conclusion of these ads. That would be powerful and would work.
The Medicare argument simply takes too much time to win - especially since Fox News has a two year lead on us. I too am appalled about Romney's Tax Returns and the pittance he pays in Taxes - again the issue is a little complex as to why to the average voter and much time and treasure would be spent explaining it.
Firing, pay cuts, layoffs, benefit cuts, bad bosses, hostile workplaces - these are what everybody has at one time been a victim of. And the issue is a winner.
