This will be a short but rabid rant. I hate, hate, hate everyone who defends in the slightest way health care for profit.
I've been trying to get my 27yr old Downs Syndrome daughter on my insurance for 18 months and simply cannot do it. They keep "losing" her forms.
Today we gave up. I called to get a denial letter - but they can't give me one because they keep losing her paperwork. Without that letter I can't even get her on Medicare.
I hate, hate, hate the whole money grubbing, red tape laden, "it's not my problem", "pass the buck", "we don't cover that", pay-as-little-as-possible festering pile of self interested medibusiness, and that includes the ACA.
Single payer please.
12:04 PM PT: Update: To boot, I've spend 3 hours out my working day trying to sort all this mess out - so much for the private system being more efficient.
3:44 PM PT: Update: Now a whole work day has been lost as I have been told to go back to the beginning and resubmit all the paperwork. I got the usual earnest promises of action/.
On another front, my insurer just told me operations for skin tag removal are not covered - why cover what people actually need. I can get all kinds of coverage if I drink myself to oblivion, but for skin tag removal - you know, that people actually need on a regular basis - there is no coverage. Pass me a gin!
Single payer please.
