At Mitt Romney's whiteboard press event on August 16, he stated that he had never paid less than 13% in taxes. Adding if you included his charitable contributions it was closer to 20 %.
Before making this tax revelation, an obviously annoyed Romney, told reporters people concerned with his taxes were small-minded.
Well, I state to the readers of this diary, I am small-minded. They say acknowledging your condition is the first step. So I will repeat, I am small-minded.
Until August 16, I was unaware this condition had infected me. Before watching this fateful press event, I believed myself open to the opinions and discourse of others. The sudden shock of my small-minded diagnosis sent me rushing to the dictionary, anxious to fully comprehend the severity of my new infirmity.
Like those rapidly spoken disclaimers at the end of prescription medications ads, it sounded ominous. Small-minded: having a narrow or selfish attitude, characterized by pettiness or selfishness.
What's more frightening, the condition appears to be extremely contagious. How else can you explain that 63% of Americans have been diagnosed as small-minded.
A cure for small-mindedness does exist.
All we sixty-three percenters have to do is stop wanting to see Mitt Romney's tax returns.
Stop asking the man who wants to be elected President of the United States, how much federal income tax he has paid in the last 10 or 12 years.
Stop requesting proof that a candidate for our highest government office, didn't hide money in off-shore accounts to avoid paying taxes to the country he wishes to lead.
Stop caring whether a presidential candidate is a man of character who values American Citizens more than he values accumulating enormous wealth.
Wholeheartedly accepting any fact-free, unproven manure that Mitt Romney shovels is the prescribed treatment for our pettiness and selfishness. By taking this simple, Governor Romney-approved cure, small-mindedness can be eradicated in this election.
