Yesterday, August 21, 2012, through his Adviser, Elliott Abrams, Mitt Romney urged Congress to Authorize a War with Iran.

Elliott Abrams wrote a long article to Congress, on rightwinged blog, Weekly Standard, urging Congress to Authorize an open-ended War with Iran.

Mitt Romney, and Paul Ryan have been receiving briefings from convicted criminal, Elliott Abrams.  Abrams is rumored to be head of Romney's National Security Agency if elected.

Don't forget, on December 20, 2011, Mitt Romney told Bill O'Reilly that America should prepare for a war with Iran.

ROMNEY: I’m ready to make sure we have military options combined with crippling sanctions ... we have developed in a way that Iran understands we would use military options ... Then there’s the other side of the story ... preparing military options. If you don’t do those things Iran has a nuclear weapon, nuclear material will ultimately be used.
Background on Elliott Abrams' Failure on National Security
Elliott Abrams was convicted for his criminal role of illegally selling U.S. Weapons to Iran, through President Reagan's National Security Agency, when Abrams worked for the Reagan Administration.

Since 1979, the Iranian regime has chanted, "Wipe Israel off the map" and "Death to America."  Yet, despite knowing Iran's hostile feelings toward Israel and America, in 1985, Elliott Abrams covertly got in bed with the Iranian Army Leaders and began illegally selling the U.S. Weapons to those Iranian Army Leaders.

In addition to Elliott Abrams being a convicted criminal, he is also a very paranoid, warmongering freak.  For instance, Elliott Abrams was a member of Project for the New American Century (PNAC) and a co-signer of a 1998 letter to then-President Clinton begging him to invade Iraq because of their paranoid fear that Saddam had WMD.

In 2003, Elliott Abrams failed in deciphering complete Intelligence data when he advised President Bush to invade Iraq.

Iranian Nuclear Program Historical Background:
These are the historical facts Elliott Abrams knew before he began illegally selling U.S. Weapons to Iran in 1985.

In 1957, Iran began acquiring enriched uranium for their Nuclear Program with an agreement on Nuclear cooperation with the United States under the Atoms for Peace program

Iran sought technology that would give it the option to build a Nuclear Bomb, and in 1963 signed the Partial Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (PTBT), a Treaty to ban testing nuclear bombs in outer space.
Iran started up their Nuclear Reactor at the Tehran Nuclear Research Center.
In 1967 acquired a Nuclear Reactor from the United States, the reactor started operations in 1968. Iran signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) on the day the Nuclear Reactor started running.
In 1975 Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) signed a contract with the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran to provide training for Iranian nuclear engineers.
Iran intensified its drive toward Nuclear Weapons in the during the Iran-Iraq War,
Therefore, long before Elliott Abrams and Fox's convicted felon, Oliver North, began subverting the U.S. Constitution and illegally selling U.S. Weapons to Iran Army Leaders, Elliott Abrams was very well aware that Iran was developing Nuclear Weapons.

In short, in 1985, Elliott Abrams became personally responsible for enabling Iran to enhance their military might and expanding their Nuclear Weapons Program.

Ok, so now that we've established, Elliott Abrams is a complete failure on America's National Security, it is somewhat bizarre, and at the same time predictable, that Abrams is demanding Congress authorize the Iran War.

In Abrams rightwinged, fact-less blog post Elliott wrote:

When negotiating with the Iranians, there is no “end game proposal;” everything is a first bid ... “restrictions” become colonial impositions that must disappear.
Elliott Abrams knows first hand what it's like to negotiate with the Irans.

Elliott has no complete Intelligence data on Iran but, as usual, that didn't stop him from urging Congress to authorize another war, this time the Iran War.  Elliott wrote:

More persuasive ...  proposals would be an effort by the president to seek a formal authorization for the use of force from Congress.
Elliott, had no complete Intelligence data like in 1998 when he pleaded with President Clinton to invade Iraq yet Elliott blathered on in his letter to Clinton about his false-fears that Iraq had WMD.

Like I said above, Elliott Abrams failed in deciphering complete Intelligence data when he advised President Bush to invade Iraq in 2003.

Abrams continued his blog entry by writing exactly what the Authorization from Congress should say:

[I]t would say “The President is authorized to use the Armed Forces of the United States as he determines to be necessary and appropriate” to achieve the goal.
Next Abrams exposes his incompetence by admitting he has no idea what his talking about yet asks Congress to Authorize an open-ended war with Iran.
... seeking such a Joint Resolution now would be a useful acknowledgement by the United States that we do not have perfect knowledge of when, as Iran advances toward a bomb, a military strike might be needed— so we will start getting ready now.
Yippi!  More Billions of dollars worth of No-Bid Halliburton contracts!!!  All the warmonger's stocks will skyrocket!

     Elliott Abrams closes by saying:

... support in Congress would demonstrate that, whatever the election results, American policy is set.
Yeah, set by warmongering failures whose incompetence has caused America to spend over Trillions of dollars wasted hunting for imaginary WMD plus:
over 180,000 Private Contractors (as of 2007) killed,
160 journalists killed,
10,125 Iraqi Police/soldiers killed,
45,779 Iraqi children killed
totaling +100,000 Iraqi civilians killed,
32,223 U.S. Troops wounded,
5,000 U.S. Troops killed, and
over 2.7 Million Iraqi civilians displaced

--- All that just because Elliott Abrams' and Dick Cheney's paranoia conned Bush into intentionally falsifying U.S. Intel so America could invade Iraq in search of imaginary WMD.

~Data From Brookings Institute
(my original diary listed over 300,000 Troops dead, I regret my error)

Elliott Abrams was not worried about Iran making a nuclear bomb when he was illegally selling U.S. Weapons to Iran -- even though, Elliott Abrams knew Iran had enriched Uranium before and during the time he was illegally selling U.S. Weapons to Iran.

In 1998, Elliott Abrams wrote a letter telling President Clinton to make an imminent, open-ended, invasion of Iraq U.S. Foreign Policy.  In 2001, Elliott's dream came true when he and Dick Cheney got their Puppet, George W. Bush, to make an open-ended invasion of Iraq U.S. Policy.

Because Elliott Abrams was 100% wrong in 1998 and in 2001 America lost over 300,000 Troops and spent Trillions of Dollars looking for Elliott's imaginary WMD in Iraq.

Elliott Abrams has already been briefing Romney and Paul Ryan on foreign policy.

Other Romney/Bush/Cheney Advisers who are urging Romney to go to war with Iran:
Romney/Bush/Cheney Adviser Elliot Cohen:

2009: Elliot Cohen called for the overthrow of the Iranian regime and said either attack Iran or it gets nukes.
Romney/Bush/Cheney Adviser, Michael Hayden
2011: Prominent torture advocate, Michael Hayden said attacking Iran over its nuclear program might not be a bad idea.
Romney/Bush/Cheney Adviser, Eric Edelman
2012: Former aid to Dick Cheney, Eric Edelman wrote that the U.S. will either have to attack Iran or contain its nuclear weapons capability
Mitt Romney in a speech at the Citadel military college
ROMNEY: “In the hands of the ayatollahs, a nuclear Iran is nothing less than an existential threat to Israel. Iran’s suicidal fanatics could blackmail the world. Iran obtaining a nuclear weapon is unacceptable.”

~Romney 2012

Yeah, I don't get the "blackmail the world" part either.  I don't see how Iran could "blackmail the world" if they had Nukes than any other country can, does or could.

Now we go back to Romney's 2011 interview with Bill O'Reilly where Romney is beating the drum to go to war with Iran

Paul Ryan was tutored on Foreign Policy by Elliott Abrams before Romney announced his Veep pick.  Last year Dick Cheney said he worships the ground Paul Ryan walks on.

Make no mistake, if Romney wins the election, Romney will be Dick Cheney and Elliott Abrams Puppet and an open-ended war with Iran will be U.S. Policy.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
