Tonight after getting all my other stuff done, I was feeling a bit discordant.
I have spent days republishing or sending for republishing diary after dairy here because of the Republicans (rape, misogyny, abortion, slut shaming etc.) I founded three groups here on DailyKos that deal with those issues. I've also been sending story and links to a group I accidentally became the sole administrators for on Facebook, which also deals with abortion.
By tonight it was getting me rather depressed, I mean come on . . . are people really going to buy it that if the Republicans gain control of the White House they will honor their "there are exceptions in the no exception no abortion stance?" Do they really think Scott Brown won't take a hard right after the election, he only moved to the middle to get re-elected.
It's disheartening.
I felt a little better after I posted my totally NON POLITICAL game diary tonight - we all need breaks and I think the fun non-political diaries are going to be essential in getting us through all the hard work we are a doing.
After I published the diary I began hearing the 5th Dimension inside my head . . . and not just any song, "Age of Aquarius." It started out quietly, and then built inside my head, you might call it a "siren's song."
After finding it on youtube my brain just naturally went to HAIR
Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical is a rock musical with a book and lyrics by James Rado and Gerome Ragni and music by Galt MacDermot. A product of the hippie counter-culture and sexual revolution of the 1960s, several of its songs became anthems of the anti-Vietnam War peace movement. The musical's profanity, its depiction of the use of illegal drugs, its treatment of sexuality, its irreverence for the American flag, and its nude scene caused much comment and controversy.[1] The musical broke new ground in musical theatre by defining the genre of "rock musical", using a racially integrated cast, and inviting the audience onstage for a "Be-In" finale.[2]
Hair tells the story of the "tribe", a group of politically active, long-haired hippies of the "Age of Aquarius" living a bohemian life in New York City and fighting against conscription into the Vietnam War. . .

and "Age of Agaurius" (and before someone says it - YES I know the
film is NOT the stage version and bears no resemblance to the stage version other than the names of the characters and the music - there is a point however, bear with me)
And then I just had to hear "Flesh Failures" - which I began to sing more and more strongly with each pass .. my own personal "FUCK YOU" to the GOP!
Ending with "Let the Sunshine In" (lyrics for both)
It is personally moving, sadly so, to see the soliders marching into the great maw of the aircraft, on their way to war.
And then I noticed something
there was an ad for Mitt Romney on this video
Really? Way to go with the messaging Mitt! Remind people like me that while you were four square FOR the Vietnam war, even demonstrating in favor, you dodged it, while my ex-husband and cousin
WENT!
and then I checked back at the youtube Hair - Aquarius vid too (I had only been listening)
The ad was even on my
lyrics page
I hit a trifecta!
I started to giggle . . . another messaging failure. Then I went into full blown laughter HAIR, Mitt really, HAIR?
HAIR??!!
Remind everyone of how much of a bully you are that you cut the hair and traumatized a high school classmate.
LOLz
FAIL, Mitt, FAIL!
I realized that this may just be in ad rotation and not tied to a keyword at all but , snicker . . . all I can see is HAIR
She asks me why
I'm just a hairy guy
I'm hairy noon and night
Hair that's a fright
I'm hairy high and low
Don't ask me why
Don't know
It's not for lack of bread
Like the Grateful Dead
Darling
Gimme head with hair
Long beautiful hair
Shining, gleaming,
Streaming, flaxen, waxen
Give me down to there hair
Shoulder length or longer
Here baby, there mama
Everywhere daddy daddy
Hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair
Flow it, show it
Long as God can grow it
My hair
