Mitt Romney has Mike Huckabee scheduled for a Prime speaking slot at Tampa. That may not have been one of his brightest decisions. Still, he can always cancel him, he can join Rubio under the Mittmobile. It's not like Mitt has an aversion to changing his mind.
Last night Huck got on a conference call to Southern Baptists and told it like it is. Like it is on Planet Cuckoo that is.
Take a leap over the heavenly squiggle to the fire and brimstone nether regions...............
They had it at Hot Air, but I went for the slightly less horrid Politico
“This could be a Mt. Carmel moment,” said the former Arkansas governor, referring to the holy battle between Elijah and the prophets of Baal in the book of Kings. “You know, you bring your gods. We’ll bring ours. We’ll see whose God answers the prayers and brings fire from heaven. That’s kind of where I’m praying: that there will be fire from heaven, and we’ll see it clearly, and everyone else will to.”
Okaaay Huck, I think I'll back out of the room and I'm betting so will a lot of others.
The executive director of the Missouri Baptist Convention, John Yeats put his two pennies in...
“As I think about Congressman Akin, his quote, ‘transgression,’ was not nearly as vile as Vitter’s. So I think this thing is survivable. And beyond survivable, I still think he has a real shot at winning the race here in Missouri.”
“One of the things we have to remind ourselves of and remind our people of is that Congressman Akin represents the mainstream of our values,” he added. “He is the mainstream of our values.”
Yep, go for it guys, you never know.
What's that saying about wrapped in flags and coming to America?
Funnily enough, even commenters at Hot Air were gobsmacked...
Another reminder of why I can’t stand the whole Akin/Huckabee/Pat Robertson wing of the party. These people are freaking nutso.
I wish the zealots would branch off and start their own party.
So do we hon, so do we.
These people shouldn’t be in politics.
Hey, I agree with someone at Hot Air, that's got to be a first.
On then to Tampa, which should be a hoot.
I've also been reading mutterings about some new rules for 2016 that Mitt seems to have unilaterally decided (on the quiet on a Friday night no less). The real true super duper proper conservatives (they seem severe to me but what do I know) are spitting feathers that Mitt is pre-emptively squishing them for 2016. Makes a change from retroactive.
Link to that article http://dyn.politico.com/...
and a comment that seems to cover what a lot of them are saying...
I know this has already been posted, but what Romney, through Ben Ginsberg, has pulled off -- stacking the rules against challenges to the establishment in presidential primaries -- is truly a treacherous act.
"Mitt Romney asserts control over 2016 calendar"
3:53 PM PT: Thanks for the recs and tips all. Much appreciated.
I have a tip for Mitt - Bet long on an Obama win on Intrade, you'll make a mint.
