I woke up this morning to see the news of former Republican Governor of Florida, Charlie Crist, endorsing President Obama, thanks to this recommended diary.
So I went to the link to check out the story, and it comes from The Tampa Bay Times:
Former Gov. Charlie Crist: Here's why I'm backing Barack Obama
Upon getting to the link, I notice the presence of one of those obtrusive new-style of banner ads at the bottom of the page which only disappear after x-ing out of them; you know, the kind that scroll with the page.
When I saw the ad, I laughed a little bit, just because it is a "welcome" to the Republican nominees, paid for by "Romney Victory, Inc." At first glance, I read the text as "Welcome America's Comeback Team" with an offer to get my official gear today. But then as I looked a little closer, I noticed that it actually said "Welcome America's Comback Team." In large caps. C-O-M-B-A-C-K.
The banner ad also transitions to another scene--maybe it is fixed there? Nope!
Now, I know it is just a little spelling error, a simple typo. But, come on. Seriously. Someone on Team Romney had to create this image and submit it. This is on the main webpage for the Tampa Bay Times; it isn't like it appeared on some little blog. It also wasn't done by some off-shoot PAC full of amateurs; no, it was Romney Victory, Inc. (how sick does that sound anyway, on a side note? Usually you see "Friends of Candidate" or something as the name...I guess Romney Victory, Incorporated makes sense) which this article on Huffington Post, Romney Victory Raises $140 Million, Exploits Campaign Finance Loophole, describes as "the primary vehicle for the high-powered fundraising operation of the Romney campaign." And they can't even check the spelling on an advertisement! Let alone one welcoming their nominees, in the main paper of the city hosting their nominating convention! Awesome.
So now we have misspellings of "America" (Amercia) on their mobile app; a misspelling on an ad on his own Facebook page offering "2012 OFFICAL GEAR" and yet another where the campaign offered supporters a "sneak peak" at a new video, in addition to the Comback Kids.
I don't have anything more to say. Have a great Sunday!
