Unbelievable though it may be, Mitt Romney has just decided to go dancing on his own third rail one more time just before the Republican Convention while trying to staunch the bleeding in his support by women.
“With regards to women’s health care, look, I’m the guy that was able to get health care for all the women and men in my state,” Mitt Romney said in an interview on “Fox News Sunday,” before making sure to attack Obama’s law. “There’s talking about it at the federal level, we actually did something. And we did it without cutting Medicare and without raising taxes.”And look he can't do it without lying about the Affordable Care Act. Exactly whose going to by this?
“So you’re saying, look at Romneycare?” host Chris Wallace responded.
“Absolutely. I’m very proud of what we did. And the fact that we helped women and men and children in our state,” Romney said.
Last time someone in the Romney Camp brought up Health Care in Massachusetts the RightWing nearly
blew a blood vessel.
And the Lies just keep coming.
“Health care is a big issue. That’s why my health care plan I put in place in my state has everybody insured,” Romney said, before taking a jab at ‘Obamacare.’ “But we didn’t go out and raise taxes on people and have an unelected board tell people what kind of health care they can have.”
Let's the just break this down:
The "Taxes" he's talking about here is the penalty which enforces the Mandate, which happens to be the exact same mandate that he implemented with RomneyCare.
The AFA actually cuts taxes by 35% for Small Business to help them buy Health Insurance for their employees. That cut goes up to 50% in 2014.
The AFA has required Insurance Companies that overcharge to send over $1.1 Billion in Rebate Checks to their customers.
That "Unelected Board" is appointed and Senate Confirmed, plus they can only offer advice on Medicare Savings to Congress and the President who are elected - they can't implement anything on their own.
Let's just recall what Romney had to say after days of Rush Limbaugh attacking a woman who testified to congress about a friend of hers needing contraceptive coverage to prevent the developing massive ovarian cysts. Limbaugh called her a "Slut", Romney said "He wouldn't have used that language'.
Speaking of Sandra Fluke, this is what she says about Romney.
As of one week ago, thanks to Obamacare, 47 million nationwide who are starting to get preventive care, like cancer screenings, well-woman visits and contraception, at no cost.
When Rush Limbaugh called me a "slut" and a "prostitute" for speaking about medical needs for contraception, Mr. Romney could only say that it "wasn't the language [he] would have used." If Mr. Romney can't stand up to the extreme voices in his own party, we know he'll never stand up for women and protect the rights that generations of women fought so hard to ensure.
Romney would repeal all of this. He would take away protections which require that women aren't charged more than men for their healthcare. He would take away the preventive screenings, he would put back the co-pays and deductibles for contraceptive and preventive care, he would allow insurers to cancel your coverage just when you need it most, he would re-open the prescription drug donut hole in Medicare, he would
increase the deficit by over $150 Billion in ten years, he would
shorten the viability of the Medicare trust fund by 8 Years, and he would give you a
coupon to try and buy health insurance from private insurance companies that are an average of
14% more expensive than regular Medicare.
I really don't think women are going to be wooed by Romney record on Health Care, considering what he says he's going to do now.
