This campaign has always been about standing up for our shared progressive values. Since I first declared my candidacy to take down Allen West in March 2011, a lot has changed. We have a new opponent who has been called “the most partisan member of the Florida state legislature” by his mentor Marco Rubio.
We know that my opponent will tout his “tea party” values over and over again, but whenever he does that I will stand up and fight for our progressive values. I firmly believe that actions speak louder than words. That is why I have joined with progressive leaders from all over the country to fight back against the tea party.

Also, earlier this year I joined with progressive candidates from all over the country and demanded that our opponents pledge to not destroy Medicare and Social Security.
