Clint Eastwood was born in 1930 so between 1980-85 he was between 50-55 years old. Now he is in his 80's.
I bring up Eastwood's age of 55 because that is the age Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney are targeting for Voucherizing/Privatizing Medicare. They're hoping that all those younger than 55, who feel "great" right now, will agree with them in that you youngsters will be to handle all the BS that comes with dealing with Insurance Companies when you become "80 year old Clint Eastwood."
How many people reading this think that Clint Eastwood has the mental stability and physical stamina to deal with the BS Insurance Companies spew out to those who they insure?
See, what gets lost in the Romney/Ryan Voucherizing Medicare is this: Romney & Ryan want to take Payroll Taxes from people younger than 55 years old and give those Payroll Taxes to Insurance Companies so future elderly folks can:
- Shop for their own Health Insurance
- Call their Insurance Companies when they find a problem in their "Explanation of Benefits" (EIB)
- Get mad as hell when their Insurance Company denies their benefits.
- Pay an Annual Premium to Insurance Companies
- Give "the People's" Payroll Taxes to Insurance Companies
Well, as Clint Eastwood illustrated in his strange speech at the RNC Convention, the elderly are not mentally capable to do any of those things.
In addition to Romney & Ryan giving "the People's" Insurance Companies to Insurance Companies, Romney & Ryan want "the People" to give additional money to Insurance Companies in the way of Annual Premiums.
Clint Eastwood is living proof, the elderly must have traditional Medicare and the GOP politicians need to stop screwing with any idea of Privatizing Medicare.
In the 1980's when Clint Eastwood was in his young 50's, he was staring in movies and producing movies. He was agile, he had a sharp mind, he could memorize a script etc.
Now, as we saw last night, Clint Eastwood has "done let the cheese fall of his cracker" and no longer has a sharp mind.
The Clint Eastwood I saw last night would not be able to mess with a Private Insurance Company and haggle over what the Insurance Company will, or will not, pay for.
Here is what the elderly, someone like Clint Eastwod, would have to deal with if Medicare is Voucherized:
- Insurance Companies will take your money to be used on your medical bills.
- In good faith: elderly will give Insurance Companies a Premium so that their Premium is used to pay for their medical bills.
- Not acting in good faith: the Insurance Companies take the elderly's money then deny them the use of their money (that they gave them) to pay for their medical bills.
- Insurance Companies will take the elderly's money then drop them if they get sick and the Insurance Company will not give them back their money (Premium) after they're dropped.
All of those things will most likely make an elderly person's blood pressure go up, and they will get sick.
America has had the Privatization of Health Insurance for elderly before --- and during that time, the elderly were: not getting the medical care they needed, not getting the medication they needed, not going to the hospital when they needed hospitalization and were, as a result, dying.
The whole reason Congress enacted Medicare was so the elderly would get: medical care, hospitalization, medicines and would live longer with a higher quality of life.
Look, I don't care if Romney & Ryan's Voucherization of Medicare is because they are both greedy bastards, or if it's because they are just dumb as sh!t ... no matter the reason of "why" they want to Voucherize Medicare:
Clint Eastwood is the poster child for why Medicare should never be privatized.
By the way, did Mitt Romney forfeit his Medicare that he can now enjoy as of March 2012?
