I thought that this photograph was hilarious, given its context. The picture was snapped during Paul Ryan's acceptance speech at a moment when an inadvertent movement of a sign by a delegate on the floor obscured part of a large banner meant to convey the message "We can change it". The photograph graces the incisive critique of Ryan's speech that Sally Kohn posted on a FOX News blog. The post went viral, as reported in the excellent recommended diary today, by 8ackgr0und N015e. The amended message is clear -- We Can Chance It. I disagree, of course.
A GOP Renaissance is exactly what America can't afford to take a chance on. Still, it helps explain why a casino mogul would want to hang with a Mormon prig and the Boy Wonder, a Catholic who reminds me a lot more of Torquemada than he does Mother Theresa.
I reckon Sheldon Adelson is simultaneously betting, hedging and spending to influence the outcome, like one would expect of any World Class player.
