We've seen from PPP that the Republican National Convention registered no bounce for Romney-Ryan in Florida and North Carolina, and we've also seen that Romney's convention speech drew the worst ratings of any Republican nominee ever since Gallup began asking the question back in 1996.  Worse even than Bob Dole's in '96, which was such a dud it gave birth to Clinton's winning slogan that year...

Now we have the Gallup tracker reporting no bounce nationally as a result of the GOP convention.  From USA Today's reporting on the poll:

"We have been monitoring the potential impact of the Republican convention on the presidential race on a day-by-day basis," writes Gallup's editor-in-chief Frank Newport. "So far, we don't see an impact."
It could be just that voters' intentions are already set in stone and that nothing the parties can do at this point will change their minds.  Or, it could just be that folks didn't find convincing a convention based on a lie, a Veep nominee's speech full of lies, and an old man railing against a chair...

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

a bounce of 6 points (as of today), which has the intended effect of bringing poll averages up from "nonexistent" to "meager".

...according to Nate Silver. Obama now stands at 74.5% chance of winning. Up +5.1% since Aug 26.

It was a week Romney should have sailed off in that yacht with Ryan and visited his money.

Did Romney misunderstand the purpose of a bounce and outsourced it to China ..... straight down......

teenager in 1976. This one sucked bad. Not batshit crazy sucked like in 1992 (that was almost entertaining), just boring, like Mitt Romney. The only kind of humorous part of the whole thing was listening to Chris "Fat Tony" Christie reminding us to have a little respect and wondering how many Our Fathers and Hail Marys the family priest would make Paul Ryan do for telling so many lies.

Add to that it was pretty much a debacle all the way around. You get an hour of primetime to reintroduce your candidate to the country and 11 minutes of it is eaten up by Clint Eastwood talking to a chair. Really?

The only bounce Romney probably gets out of this mess is a dead cat bounce.

includes the convention + post-convention days.  Given that our convention starts tomorrow, Romney's bounce doesn't really matter.  It's finally our turn to make our case to the people, and I think when all is said and done people will feel better informed about what Obama has done and what he plans to do to take the country forward.  That should result in a solid bounce of 4-6 points.
