Of course I have to post this today. And probably will every Labor Day.
No step towards a more civil society was ever taken without a people's movement demanding it. No king, lord or robber baron ever ceded power over society out of the goodness of his heart. Aristocrats and plutocrats fought tooth and nail, with clubs and guns and spies and coercion, to stop common people from getting together and deciding a common course for a common good, the right of association. And if you say people's movements have had their day, that they are no longer needed or relevant, that it is okay to now RESCIND that right, then you prove in the same breath the absolute need for them.
No society ever got freer by taking away people's rights and telling them to shut up and know their place. They got the opposite of free.
Wake up and fight.
Solidarity.
