As we all know, Obama campaign surrogates and Dem operatives have been making the rounds on all the cable news and Sunday talk shows only to fumble this very simple question.
The answer is simple, my friends:
“I’m better off than I would have been.”
You can work it in in a number of ways.
“I’m better off than I would have been, especially under Mitt Romney’s plan”
“Anyone not suffering from amnesia and remembers four years ago would say ‘I’m better off than I would have been’”
“I’m better off than I would have been were it not for the decisive steps our President took to save our economy.”
There’s no effective comeback without, for lack of a better phrase, getting all Wonky. Which is exactly what the question is intended to elicit from Democrats in the first place so I’d love to see that turned around on all the talking heads and Republicans who are asking it.
I guarantee they’d stop asking it pretty damned quickly.
