The Democratic National Convention 2012: We're winning
Watch live video here and join the conversation as we live blog the 2012 Democratic convention

7:46 PM PT: If you missed it earlier, here's Michelle Obama's remarks as prepared.

7:47 PM PT:
FLOTUS' account of her and POTUS' early years rings a little more genuine than eating pasta while living off stock options.

7:48 PM PT:
I like to think that Michelle Obama is the type of wife who would say: "Dude, the dog is riding inside the car."

7:49 PM PT: To everyone in the punditsphere who said Michelle Obama wouldn't mention Mitt Romney tonight:

We learned about honesty and integrity – that the truth matters…that you don’t take shortcuts or play by your own set of rules…and success doesn’t count unless you earn it fair and square.
Technically, not a mention. But you know damn well who she was talking about.

7:52 PM PT:

The whole audience here is listening intently -- unusual for a convention.

Going from that the amazing keynote speech to this speech by Michelle Obama is ... an embarrassment of riches.

7:54 PM PT:

Michelle Obama shows how you use a personal story - weave it into your political philosophy & show how it reflects your political values

And one of the most stirring lines of her speech: "Barack knows the American Dream because he’s lived it…and he wants everyone in this country to have that same opportunity, no matter who we are, or where we’re from, or what we look like, or who we love. And he believes that when you’ve worked hard, and done well, and walked through that doorway of opportunity…you do not slam it shut behind you…you reach back, and you give other folks the same chances that helped you succeed."

7:56 PM PT: Another contrast with Mitt Romney: "For Barack, success isn’t about how much money you make, it’s about the difference you make in people’s lives."

7:58 PM PT:
Something that I didn't see in Tampa -- wait staff cheering for convention speaker... Michelle

8:01 PM PT:
Given that Michelle Obama took down the entire Republican Party in 20 minutes, what's the rest of the DNC? Dubstep remixes?
@jesseltaylor via web
8:02 PM PT:
Mrs. O makes gay reference, about respecting our love. Mitt made a gay reference too, slamming our marriages. Any questions?

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
