Reviews are in for Michelle Obama. Here's a sample from the left, right and middle. Andrew Sullivan:
Stunning, brilliant, moving, passionate and right. Flawless. That was a speech a presidential nominee would be proud to have given. The best speech of the conventions so far. There was an emotional arc and steel to this that was as suffused with patriotism as it was with love. Yes, I'm gushing. But gushing is what I feel. And this is live-blogging. So sue me. I've never heard a speech from a First Lady anywhere close to this.
Here's the libertarian/Conservative named
Will Wilkinson who I usually find to be a smarmy little twit:
Ms Obama's speech was paint-by-numbers, but the painting happened to be the Mona Lisa. She was perfect. The speech was in many ways profoundly conservative; witness "Mom-in-Chief". Such reactionary tropes are liberals' best defence, and good defence is all Mr Obama really needs.
Josh Marshall:
This was an amazingly good delivery. But Ann Romney’s was pretty good too. Giving a lengthy speech in front of millions of people is really, really hard. It takes a number of skills wrapped into one – timing, a good speaking style, coolness under pressure. It’s no secret that most politicians can do it reasonably well. That’s why they’re politicians. Baseball players are good athletes. Well, that’s how they became baseball players. But again, it doesn’t necessarily follow that the spouse is good at it too.
But man, that was pretty good.

Michelle Obama is wrapping up her speech now. And wow, what a speech. Absolutely riveting.
I was watching PBS and David Brooks, nonplussed about the other speakers, was gushing about Michelle. Virtuoso performance.
