Okay, I'll admit it. Although I intend to vote for the President, I wasn't enthusiastic about doing so. My feelings about the President could be summed up, as my daughter's boyfriend would say, by the word "Meh."
I have anti Romney bumper stickers all over my car but not a single Obama/Biden sticker. Romney is a bad enough opponent that I could show my derision for him via my stickers without having to support the President.
Truth be told, I was embarrassed to show my support of the President in this Republican town. I was cowed by the thought of having to admit my lackluster support for the President to others
Duval Patrick's speech changed that. He was absolutely right: we should not allow this President to be bullied by the Republicans and we should not fear the same for supporting him. We,as Democrats, need to grow a back bone.
I have no doubt that I will be bullied. The hatred for this President is real and irrational. I saw a bumper sticker today on a truck that said "Douche" with the letter O replaced with the Obama O. You cant reason with a person who thinks putting the word Douche on the back of their truck is acceptable under any circumstances.
So, a bumper sticker shopping I will go. Hell, I may even go for a lawn sign and give the nasty old man who lives next door and goes past my house on his daily walk a shock:)
