6:31 PM PT: Vintage Biden: he starts out by professing his love for his wife.
6:32 PM PT: And now, on the vice presidential nomination. "I accept. With great pleasure and honor, I accept. Thank you, fellow Democrats."
6:32 PM PT:
Fun Fact: Joe Biden is the only American Vice President in the eleven years who hasn't shot a friend in a face.

6:33 PM PT: In face of economic crisis, Biden says, "this generation of Americans has proven itself as worthy as any generation before it."
6:33 PM PT: This is a guy, and this is an administration, and this is a party that believes in America. Biden's optimism tonight is unbridled.
6:34 PM PT: On Obama: "A leader who will lead us over the next four years to a future that is as great as the American people."
6:35 PM PT: "Four years ago, the middle-class was already losing ground. And then the sledge hammer hit."
6:36 PM PT: Here's a sign the speech is off to a damn good start. First:
Well, that was nice. Joe Biden's love of his wife Jill is genuine and touching. #DNC

And then:
Biden just mentioned "prosperity." Meantime, White House trashes and bullies Americans for Prosperity. #DNC

If she's mad now, just wait until Biden is done.
6:37 PM PT: The hall is silent as Biden reminds us of the severity of the crisis that President Obama was forced to confront after taking office.
6:39 PM PT:
I'll channel @MichelleMalkin: GOP says they love America, but they trash Prioties USA and Obama for America!

6:41 PM PT: On Obama and Romney: "Let's be straight. They bring a vastly different vision, and a vastly different value set to the job."
6:44 PM PT: "Let me tell you, I love Jennifer." Fortunately, Biden wasn't professing his love for another woman. He was speaking of Jennifer Granholm, Michigan's former governor, teeing a discussion about saving the auto industry. "This wasn't just about a car. This was about the people who build the cars. And the America they build." (Rough transcript, there.)
6:44 PM PT:
FACT CHECK: Fox anchors r painfully ignorant; MT @ericbolling how long before Biden delivers this falsehood: "Bin Laden's dead, Gm is alive"

6:47 PM PT: On Romney's opposition to saving Detroit: "I think he saw it the Bain way." The Bain way might be the way to make profits, Biden says, but it's not what he need in the White House. "This was about a lot more than the automobile industry. This was about America's pride." He knew it in his gut. "He knew the message it would send around the world if America gave up on an industry that helped put America on the map in the first place. Conviction, resolve, Barack Obama. That's what saved the automobile industry."
6:50 PM PT (Kaili Joy Gray): New thread here.
